Pretty much. I read some of the American mags, but the Brit mags seem much more honest. You almost need a translation guide to read American magazines.

Occasionally has a bit of headshake = tankslapper deathtrap
FI not as smooth as we would like = stumbles so bad you'd think it lost a cylinder
Suspension a little stiff = don't hit a bump if you want to keep your nuts
Riding position is racy/track oriented/tight = it will give you carpal tunnel looking at it on a dealership floor
Quirky/unique/different/etc. = breaks all the time and you can't get parts

The Brits are much more willing to call a POS what it is. Unfortunately I'm not willing to spend $12 or more for a single issue.

It seems like the publisher (Ogden Publications) doesn't really know what they want to be. They publish Motorcycle Classics and Gas Engine magazine, but they also publish Mother Earth News and run a carbon offset comparison shopping website. Hopefully there is no editorial crossover or you end up with an article on how to run your Eddie Lawson replica Kawasaki on fryer grease.

Well they have an ongoing 'tutorial' I guess you could call it about restoring a CB500 Four. I am inheriting a CB 550 Four next month, so I just liked it.

I am going to go to Hastings sometime this week and look at what they have. I need a good classic/restoring magazine.

I hate all of the American rags with a passion! The ONLY reason they make it to my house is because they are free!!! I get Cycle World, Sport Rider and Motorcyclist which in reality means that I get "Motor World Rider". They are basically the same rag! Shit MC and SR had an article about the new BMW that used the exact same pictures and the same basic review as well. What a waste! If I had paid for both of these pos rags, I would be pissed. As it stands, I wish that I had spent that time on the toilet reading the backs of shampoo bottles instead!:panic:

It apparently is Performance Bikes.

I was thinking you were being a smart ass when I googled performancebike and went to the first site.

I literally get through a Motorcyclist magazine in one "sitting"... I only wish that they would make it out of tissue paper so it would be good for something...

LOL

I spend more time looking at the bling ads in the back than reading the supposed "comparos".

I subscribed to Motorcyclist for three decades, but they have certainly gone downhill lately. I subscribe to Motorcycle Consumer News, but they are expensive. Their tests of products is great. But they test too many cruisers. I'll pick up a copy of Sport Rider at the supermarket if it has some tests that I'm interested in.

Bike mags?

I come here for other people's opinion on motorcycles.

Bike mags are like porn mags. Just some dudes riding equipment better than I can, and then telling me how awesome it is. Yet, I never get to try it..

But, I did like superbike back in the day.

If I remember correctly.... SR and Motorcyclist are sister publications. They've had to substantially cut budget and staff, so I guess they are sharing media and info now????

For me, SR fulfills my everyday need to quell boredom.... but if I am looking for something with some more substance, PB is easily picked up at Barnes & Noble. It is a little expensive tho.

Out of my subscriptions I like motorcyclist best followed by SportRider. But they do share articles. Cycle World is a distant third.

The Brit mags are better but like everyone else said, they are pricey.

meh i like your analogy but while they may secure some exciting "equipment" i'd never assume they rode it better than i could :lmao:

I went up to a different Barnes and Noble and all the Brit mags were $9 and up. I went to a few websites to look into subscriptions and got really confused about pricing.

I think I will just still to my .42cent Cycle World.

Don't subscribe to any. Only time I pick one up is if I'm flying and looking for something to read; usually Sport Rider magazine.
