One of our local guys ran a 10.6@130 on the rear wheel just this weekend. They had an all bike drag day at the Mirimichi drag strip in NB. One of the classes was a "wheelie" class. And that is where he pulled off a faster quarter than my bike is capable of.. On the rear wheel..

Sounds about right. Any idea what extras he had on it?

Impressive.

It's one thing to pull off a 1/4 mile wheelie OR a 10 second pass.

To do both takes some skill.

Oh shit....my reading skills fail today. You said on the rear wheel twice and I just ignored it.

I change my answer to: Damn. Any idea what extras he had on it?

That is nuts.
For comparison, motorcycleusa.com did the same thing with a TLS, and it would only do a mid 12 on the back wheel.

I love my bike, especially when it is trying to rip my arms out.

It's a drag bike. What do you expect?

The guys on the 14 and the busa look like they are struggling big time. Thanks for posting, those are awesome!

How do you know it's a drag bike? Do you know the guy personally? He told you it was a drag bike or do you just assume it's a drag bike because it is lowered? The Hyabusa was not built to be a drag bike but many people make them into one because of the large powerful motor. It doesn't mean all Hyabusa's are drag bikes. Would you call a lowered GSXR600 a drag bike?

It's on the drag strip, therefore it is a drag bike.

Every bike pictured is at that moment a drag bike.

The Busa is set up accordingly.

I also originate from that area. There are NO corners.

I took the Buell home last summer, and it was a wasted trip. All there is, is scenery and high way...

The fact that it is on a drag strip and is being drag raced might be a clue that it is a drag bike.

My point is this THIS is a drag bike. Not the busa in question.

Just because it's street legal and doesn't have $30k dropped into doesn't mean it can't be a drag bike. I didn't say it was a PROFESSIONAL drag bike.

Ok so by your logic if I took a Harley to do a track day, would you call it a race bike? No.

The reason for lowering a bike is to prevent wheeling and reduce drag. The busa is lower as he obviously drag races it. There is nothing "wrong" with a lowered bike if you are wanting to get as much speed as possible in a straight line. Do I think it is rediculous for someone to lower their bike and take it to the corner to hang out/pose or ride it around downtown, yes because it takes away turning clearance and they are most likely wanting to look like they drag race. That guy IS drag racing so his bike is set up as it should be for what he is doing.

If she put a catch pan on that Harley and you questioned why, would she be wrong in replying "Because it is a track bike." ?

if he was in fact racing it in a race....then yes it is a race bike. And if someone modded their harley to be faster on the track and actually took it to the track to race, I would see no fault in that.

The term "race" "track" and "drag" do not denote the type of bike....just the usage of the bike. Some bikes are better suited to drag and race than others.

By the way...Harleys were the original "race" bike...

I guess it's been a few weeks since we had a pointless argument around here.

I know the reason behind lowering a bike. I've seen many bikes lowered that have never seen a drag strip or at least very few times and their primary purpose was not to drag but only for looks. The way his bike is set up I doubt his bike is primarily for drag racing. It's a street bike made to look like a drag racer that he might take to the track one or twice ever.

Do you know "personally" how often he drag races? I just have never seen why people care what OTHER people do to their OWN bikes. If I had a bike that I took to the drag strip, I would think about lowering too...especially if it was a Busa and prone to wheeling.
