My friend gave me a free tire that is practically brand new and I am wondering if it will fit on my 01 Gixxer 750. The tire size thats supposed to go on this rear wheel is a 180-55 zr 17 and he gave me a 160-60 zr 17. Will this fit I am only looking for this tire to get me through the season so If i dont like it I will burn it off.

:boobs:
I just had to use that

It should fit.

But, I wouldn't do it.
And ill ride on cords or a patched tire...

Thats a pretty small tire. My bike runs a 160 rear stock and I just wasnt a fan of it. I ended up going to a 170 just to have something a little wider until I buy a bike that uses something bigger.

I would not, just me and like TMALL patches or cords don't bother me. What type of riding do you do? If you are more of a cruiser, take it easy putt around town guy I doubt it will matter.

DONT. you'll have terrrible handling, and your tire will have an overly square profile with pretty much ZERO cornering ability.

to tell you the truth this tire looks really wide for a 160... i currently have a 190 on the back of this bike and it doesnt look that much skinnier. I have put it side byb side with a 180 and it looks very comparable... anyways with all the rain we have been getting i have only been able to squeeze out maybe a 1k miles worth of riding and this tire only has to get me a month. So ill put it on and order up a new set of tires over the winter. The bike only sees the streets and a good majority of it is highway considering i have a 75mile commute to work that i take it on when the days are nice. I will throw it into a corner when i can but i dont push it on the streets

According to Dunlop: http://www.dunlopmotorcycle.com/tirecatalog_tire.asp?id=92, you have a 5.5 inch wide wheel which they recommend a 180/55 tire. For their 160/60 tire they recommend a 4.5 inch wide wheel.

it may not even mount up due to the rim difference in width.

Amazing.

That sounds like a really, really bad idea. I'd go for a bald, patched, take off before I put a 160 on a 180 rim.
