When ya'll take your "newish" bikes in that have only one low beam running during the day, do they check to make sure the other one comes on?

My '01 vfr runs both low beams but one has been out and I'm lazy right now and don't wont to take a crap load of parts off my bike just for the bulb.

You're only required to have one headlight in all states. If they ask, just tell them it's normal. Maybe they're stupid... If not, I believe that you can fix it and come back for N.C.

Most Shops around me wouldn't know the difference.

Over the past yrs I have had

"Your exhaust is illegal!".. Why? Cause it looks loud. :skep:

"Your tires are bald!" No, actually they are brand new just don't have that funny tread like car tires.

"Your brakes are almost gone". Really? I just got done putting the calipers on after putting new pads and getting new tires put on. But that was 5 miles ago, they might be getting close.

Then you get the whole "the inspection sticker must be in plain sight, wanna put it on the windscreen?" :wtfru:

I still love the "I hear an exhaust leak on your truck". Then watch him take a rag and cover the exhaust tip again. Yep, sounds like a 3" hole coming from the other sides exhaust tip. That damn dual exhaust. :?:

I've gotten that and more. Un freakin' real.

I'd just replace the headlight - take what, 10 minutes (including time spent walking to the fridge to get a beer)?

My last inspection consisted of 15 minutes talking bikes and 0 minutes of actually checking my bike.

Most are just amazed that
A. It's a 93'
B. It's still on the road

The guy I used to take it too would check brakes and tires (anything that could result in a sale for him) but that shop closed down over the summer.

I think they are more amazed it still has the #3 crank and rod bearings still intact.

No, you are not required to have a working high beam to be legal in the State of Texas. As long as your lights work - then you're legal.

What is this inspection you speak of? Funny how everyone criticizes CA for being a commie state, but we don't have any bike inspections.

By the way, your owners manual should clearly indicate how to change the bulb.....It's not hard at all. In fact I've never seen a bike where the bulb access point wasn't right in front of your face.

But I'm sure ya'll have to do a state income tax when you do your regular income tax.

I know how to work on my bike. I don't ride in the night hardly ever. The more I have to take off both sides, bottom front piece, wind screen, and front piece w/ headlight assembly off, the more I rest damaging them.

As do probably 2/3rds of all states

I'm just stating that people (no matter what state) get taxed in some form and it pretty much equals out.

But why do you have to get inspected? What's the point?

To make sure your vehicle is up to specs with the law and to collect tax money. We dont do state income tax here so you get taxed in other ways.

Some goes to roads, to the state, to the blank, etc

The RC51 only has one working low beam both light are on for the high beam. It used to piss me off people would tell me all the time "you have a bulb out." I would say, "Thanks but its fine honda just sucks ass."

You guys get some things backwards. SF bans a constitutional right but feel that a old man has a right to do Yoga naked on a pier. Which it's California's business and not mine. Just seems that many laws in CA are based around what the local city hipsters and "progressives" feel is right. A lot of city people (based on people in Atlanta that I think would fit right in at Berkeley) ride cycles/scooters so you have to make them happy. I'm waiting for the day that cars are banned from roadways for bicyclists.

Do the people who inspect the bikes inspect the cars too? Do they get special training for bikes?

I think some car inspection places in Texas also do bikes, but I always go to a bike place I trust.

I have to say, the inspections in Texas do a pretty good job of keeping the clapped-out hoopties off the roads here. Better than the smog inspections did in CA when I lived out there.

that way they can sue the car company rather than the state when shit falls off and kills someone.

I hate inspections. They are bullshit for the most part. I get it, though. In fact, I gotta pick up my car from being inspected today.

Tough to do on the car. Fucking sticker right on the windshield...easy to spot for the Police if it isn't current.

Bike is easier to dodge the Fuzz on the inspection deal.

One of my friends has a F4i and I like to tell her one of her headlights is out just to piss her off.

Those guys have pretty much dried up around here. I had a good guy back in the day. Then the state started watching him.
