vs GSXR1000
Now this is a pre-prod version, but it looks like it is going to have a strong motor.

Cliff notes...
Gixxer 1k = 162.87HP
Beamer = 179.82HP
Graph is HP vs MPH, both bikes in 5th gear. Similar curves until about 150HP @ 130mph, when the BMW starts walking away.

That is impressive if it's not just a ringer. I now wonder what the torque graph looks like ?

Yea, that sounds really high but not impossible. Wow, if that's true I'd almost spring for one of those ugly fuckers! Of course the argument will always stand that you can get a GSXR and spend the extra $$$ to get more ponies... Still, almost 180hp whew!

German maintenance cost....must not buy
German repair costs....must not buy
When it's 10 years old you will have to fabricate your own parts for it...must not buy
must not buy
must not buy
must not buy
at least not the first batch...

Lessee, how much coin to spend to get 17 hp more from the GSXR!!?? Is 17 more at that point important to what you actually do with your bike? Anyone seen the rev limiter in 5th or 6th lately? Been on the front stretch of Infineon trying to pass Hayes or Mladin?

Oh I know, it doesn't really matter to me but for the sake of argument... If this is true, I can see a new Superstock champion in the works!!!

That was done on a pre production and published in roadracing world. Glad y'all don't believe the numbers I throw out or anything.....

Yep I agree with you all for the most part.
If true this is pretty cool for BMW and the sportbike world imho.
I haven't seen the rev limiter in 5th or 6th on the R1 in a while...actually never in 6th.
German first year model and maintenance...yep both are concerns.
I am looking forward to the comparison test with the other big boys though...I must admit.
ABS would be nice....I think.

The electronics are a concern for me and I hate linked brakes!!! As far as ABS goes... I kinda like doing stoppies once in a while. I'd have to ride it and see. I've sampled some of BMW's "innovative" ideas in the past and was not impressed. :idk: It's probably an old dog, new tricks scenario on my part.

I missed it if so BUT I don't post as much as some of you so maybe I did just miss it.

I hear ya...I would like to ride it at some point...I've never tried out ABS on a bike...or linked brakes.
Well I did ride a Goldwing but didn't test the brakes out.

Yea I know, but still pretty impressive!
If guys like Smileyman had had their way, sport bike development would have stopped at the '77 Honda 750 Super Sport! Shit some guys turned down their noses when Indian produced a bike that would do 60mph. "Who needs to go that fast, anyway?"
Finally! I've been holding off buying a liter bike because they just didn't have enough power.

Power without the ability to translate it down to the tarmac = last place.

oo0000000000 180 horse get a first gen or a 3rd gen. kawi and mod it a bit.
Reliability
Powar
and your not riding a bmw with non symmetric headlights

yeah, i think a third gen could pound out that number with full akra, stacks, no secondarys, bmc, and a bazazz. hell, you'd even have real traction control if you got the right box

i know they were putting out big numbers when you mod them but i havent seen any dyno sheets.
I also take dyno sheets with a grain of salt.

i know fast bikes had their longtermer into the 170s with just full akra and a tuned pcIII. plus ditching the secondaries is supposed to be worth a good free 5+ hp

And what happens when you apply the same mods to the BMW?
