View Full Version : Watch your bikes
I just went out to give a friend a hand. He was out at a local eatery, and when he goes to leave his bike made it 5 feet then it just stopped and fell over on him. Apparently while he was eating, someone dropped a disklock on his front brake. After he realized what happened, he called and asked me to grab his trailer and help lift the bike onto it.
1. its fucked up
2. no major damage to the bike, small scratches on the fairing
3. whoever did that pulled an asshole move that could have seriously hurt him.

That's some fucking bullshit. Could've really hurt himself or fucked up his bike. I'd beat someone near to death for that. No major damage, but still damage that shouldn't be there because someone can't leave something that doesn't belong to them alone.

Wonder if it was someone who knew him and was pissed at him?

is it yours? no? then step the fuck away before you get your ass kicked by the very pissed off guy that actually DOES own it.
Just got off the phone with him, once he cut the lock off he realized the the front brake lever was binding, he said it is cracked where the lever bolts into and probably bent.

That is the first thing I look for when I get back to my bike...whether someone put a disc lock or a U-lock on a wheel.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... My life would be complete if like 99% of the people on this planet spontaneously turned into zombies and started eating the other 1%.

It was probably HIS disk lock, and he was to embarrased to admit it

So there are people out there that carry disk locks around just so they can fuck with other people's bikes. Seems odd to me.

I remember once I put a U-lock around the wheel and swingarm of my SV.......Then forgot about it. Put a small dent in the wheel and twisted the lock, making me call a locksmith to cut it off

I can't even remember to take the key, or even shut it off sometime. If I had a lock, my shit would always be fucked up.

now that I'm in MS... I vote for this plan of action... I can hold out in my apartment for the first week or so... though I'd have to hijack a truck...

I leave shit on my bike all the time and its never been messed with...
Would you put it beyond this guy to have maybe bought a disc lock, forgot that he was using it, and pulled out forgetting about it, and just saying somebody put it there to save face? That situation seems more plausible then there are bandits out there buying 30 dollar disc locks just to fuck with people.
I can think of MUCH worse things to do if i was really THAT pissed at somebody. silica sand + oil = new bike time. cut the clutch/throttle line. crazy glue in the ignition, all of which would cost me less than a dollar.
Yeh, it is quite possible, but who knows. The other thing that seems pretty plausible is that teh guy is a cop in the area it happened, someone could recognized him as the cop that arrested or wrote a ticket (which is his thought) to them, and just left their disk lock on his bike to fuck with him.
