that's what I was thinking... wonder if it's because it's an UP SCALE shopping center... I mean he mentioned it didn't have chain fenced doors because of it... :idk:

yeah they were pretty smooth and effecient.... wonder how much more they'd have gotten away with if they'd spend 30 more sec and went in the back... :idk:

security guards should be armed... thieves should be shot...

security devices dont have to be obtrusive to be effective, im assuming they were hoping that the worthless security guard was going to be enough of a deterrent

Two things.

Guard was in on it, because he disappeared before they entered and did not return until after they were gone. He also could have possibly undone any locks on the devices.

another thing, the store could have done it as an insurance scam.

I think scenario one is more probable.

For real...you'd need boltcutters to grab anything around here.

Nah, the security guard was working the entire mall. All they did was wait until he checked that store and went in while he was making his rounds. Or they waited until he went to take a piss or something. It's classic robbery tactics that have been used since the dawn of time.

You could get everything with cable cutters here.:idk:

I'm not that impressed, though it is way better than your standard smash and grab. I find it very funny that the news guy made mention TWICE about the efficiency in which they smashed the window.

The reporter made is sound like they did this amazing thing. They tossed a brick at glass, it broke and they ran in. They must have had someone mastermind that one. I would check Mensa.

Then they ran in and grabbed as many laptops as possible and ran back out. The store wasn't cleaned out. What about the Ipods? Iphones? Shit...what about the laptops still in boxes with power cords?

Shit there were five of them, they should have been in and out in 20. That reporter needs to get out more.

They did mention Ipods and Iphones as well, but it's still not as amazing as it was presented... slow day in the news I guess.

Sounds like you are experienced.

Never understood why places have so much glass, let alone a glass door?

Yea, I've watched about a million movies where the crooks count how long it takes for the guard to make his rounds. They bust in the place and run out in under that amount of time. Simple. Not criminal genius.

They have so much glass because it creates a pleasant buying atmosphere. It there wasn't all that glass, it would be a much more somber place and dip shits wouldn't pay $3,000 for a laptop with a 13'' screen.

BTW the back where they store all of the new pieces is probably locked with a combination code or a key. I know I'm the only "hood rat" but am I the only person to work in retail as well?

:

Don't forget the light weight, thin body, and flash drive instead of hard drive --- I'd pay up to an extra $1K for that stuff, assuming the rest of the package was what I wanted.

Yea, well a Macbook Air is really cool but I can get an Acer, a huge laptop with all the bells and a home computer for what they want!

There is a film that can be applied to the window that would slow them down a lot. You can put this on and beat a window with a bat and not break it the first time. It takes a while and even then you can just walk in you still have to beat on it to get in.

depends on the store... for laptops and shit... the stores I worked at that had other things would have them locked up in back yes... but we also had the ones on display locked up... so :idk:

I was thinking if they don't bother locking up the most readily available stuff... why lock up the stuff in back... but then again the locker in the back in my old shop was to keep the employee's honest... so you're probably right...
