yeah a small house at that, the guy did it on a budget and is not filled with money, he said he saved for 9 years to do it. He did a pretty decent job for not contracting it out to a pro to build it. Work with what ya got.

I am sure in some silly rich ass celebs/random rich dude's house there is bigger that was built by an aquarium company that the celeb/rich dude takes no pride in cleaning or probably even feeding, but other than that, this is pretty good for the circumstances.

That is certainly impressive. Can't imagine what people will think if/when he ends up selling the house!

I was surprised to see what looks like a slightly oversized pool filter running the show, tho... There's a guy in our area who has an in-ground pool converted into a habitat for gorgeous, literally world-class koi fish... his filtration system is approximately the size of a shipping container.

Found a small webpage, but the picture doesn't do it justice... when we saw it the water was absolutely, perfectly clear-

Insane, simply insane. Hope he can charge for tours to pay his 40,000 gallon a month water bill. He says he changes out 10k gallons a week. Just insane.

"I do about 10,000 gallon water changes every week."

What a waste of water.

He said he uses the water that he removes from his tanks to keep his ponds going. So its not a total waste. He is also on well water.

But that is a lot of water and and a big ass tank. I always wanted a tank that covered most of a wall.

He also said his electric bill is about $1200 a month. I believe his food cost were about $1400 a month. He has some fish that breed enough to keeps the predators going and lowers his food bills.

I guess one of the few that reads after looking at the pretty pictures.

"The cost isn't the water its the electricity to pump it and the oil to heat it.
I live in the country.

The most I've paid is $1,200 a month for hydro and $1,200 for oil. "

Damn!!! And I believe it was $1400 for the food.

it may be 40,000 gallons in WC's but he also has to have a water for top off to replenish water that evaporates. the more current and the heat and light energy in the water, the faster it evaporates. i have a 180 gal system and i go through about 5 gallons of water in less than 48 hours.
