I was trying to look at some dirty shit today and when clicking on some free dirty crap I got a "Trojan" of some sorts that is apparently some crazy ass virus from Russia.

Here is the best info I got about removing it but it's been a pain in the ass.
http://www.xp-vista.com/spyware-removal/sgoblxtm-toolbar-removal-instructions

I heard some people say they had success with Spyhunter 3. It's $30 which is better than a new computer. I might just give up and get that. Any suggestions?

I have WindowsXP.

Fucking Soviets. Can't let us Capitalists enjoy Free Porn because they can't get it.

I download until my hard drive gets full... Then I spend a few weeks watching all of it and deleting the stuff that is either low quality, or doesn't excite me... There are a few that I have kept throughout the years that always scratch the itch...

I have gotten two porn viruses and both I believe were caused in the hopethat I would buy the virus software that kept crashing my computer like holding for ransom or some shit. Reformatting has always worked for me pita though.....

First off.... you fuktard, what do you expect. Are you currently running an anti-virus in the first place? Probably not one that works if you caught that shit.

Go download AVG www.grisoft.com or free.grisoft.com if you're lazy and don't want to pay. The free is just as good as the regular. I went paid after having it for a year.... Figured I owed them some love for keepin my shit clean.

Second. DO YOUR FUCKING UPDATES..... You won't believe HOW many people get f'ked over because they don't do their windows updates. When I ran an ISP (that's Internet Service Provider for you non-geek speakers) one of my documents I included was basic information on how to keep your shit up to date on both windows and Macs. Macs' tend to have an easier time because there's such a small market share for them, so hence most viruses are written engineered in a Windows (Microsoft) environment. There's still Mac and Linux (or whatever flavor of *ix you run) so still keep your ass up to date and protected.

Okay. NOw, I'd try to clean that shit first.... But honestly, I'd wipe. When my shit gets TRUELY infected (which yoru shit just got jacked, mofo) that's a wipe, plain and simple.

Invest a lil' bit of money in imaging products, such as Ghost or well, Alteris, but that's more of an enterprise thing. Ghost will pretty much work for what ya need to do. I know you're so used to downloading free shit off the web w/ their haxors on them... but c'mon. Shell out cash when the shit matters. (Ie anti-virus and imaging/ghosting). Quit being a lazy douchebag.

Next? I'd advise using a portable HDD (usb) or a secondary HDD or hell if you're on a laptop, once you kill the thing. set up a 10-15gb partition and only install the OS on it. Everything else, (games, programs, movies, pr0n) keep/install on the other partition or HDD. That way when you inevitably DO have to wipe (and you will) you don't loose a lot of your settings (providing you backup your profile every once in a while too) keep your game saves, keep your pr0n, program installs, haxors, etc etc. C'mon, be smart... Reloading an OS is gonna happen. At least be ready for it fucker.

Finally..... KEep that SHIT off your desktop. Don't put all your music, videos, whatever on your desktop. it slows your fucking system down because it has to load it all into memory. *smack*

Just curious but does a little box pop up that says "Your computer has been infected by an unknown trojan. Critical files may be lost." or something like that when you click on "My Documents"? Ive had that pop up lately but Ive never downloaded anything and my comp doesnt run any slower or anything just that box pops up every now and then. I really need to wipe mine anyways but Im just curious if this is the same thing as what you have.

If not I'll do the Spyhunter3. It's only $30.

find your windows cd. put it in the drive. now turn your computer completely off and then on again. the windows setup should show up. tell it you want to install windows on your c drive. it'll prolly ask "do you want to format the drive". (this will delete all your files so i hope you dont have important shit on there) say yes. continue installing.

I'm officially screwed. My computer freezes up on startup. I can only get on under Safemode and Networking. I've been working on this crap forever doing everything I read and I guess I killed it.

I tried the Spyhunter and paid the $30 but unfortunately when I try to start up in normal mode it freezes so I can't use it. So there went $30 down the drain. It won't work in safe mode.

So no clue what I'm going to do. If I can find the windows CD I'll reboot the computer. God Damn virus' suck.

I do appreciate the help everyone.

Guess I should have specified you need to get to the MSDOS prompt. But if you format, you'll lose everything and need to re-install windows and all other files. My guess, you don't have any option, but I could be wrong. If that doesn't work, your hard drive might be screwed. I had to replace my hard drive in my laptop and start fresh. Sucked ass, but I luckily had MOST of the things I needed backed up on a flash drive. Had to rebuild a spreadsheet from several months of forgetting to update, but ok other than that.

Smittie61984

I'm guessing I'll have to get a new computer. I had McAffee on my computer but it expired and wanted I think $100+ to renew for a bit or so I just kept putting it off. Now I'm about to pay for it.

I tried what I thought was a Windows CD and the computer wouldn't read it. A buddy of mine is a super computer nerd so I'm going to ask him what he thinks. Which will suck because I know squat about computers and he knows squat about bikes. Which means he'll probably have me fix his bike when it needs fixing. Luckily for me it's an 08 SV650s.

As for files. Well I tried hooking my MP3 player up to my computer in safe mode to see if I could get the rest of my music off. It wouldn't but most of my music is on my MP3 player. So I'm guessing a flash drive won't read either so I can save my pictures. Luckily the majority of my pictures are on Flickr. The only thing I'm really wanting is some of my videos that I have made(Non-porn vids). I do have them on youtube but unfortunately I can't save those from youtube.

Oh well hopefully I can figure it out.

oh yeah. How do I get to MSDOS Prompt???

You probably don't need a new computer, just a new hard drive. I have seen times when it's something different, but most likely, it's the drive. I'd be willing to bet your computer friend can fix it with ease.

if you REALLY must recover your stuff off your drive.... buy another... install the OS on that one... and use your current drive as a slave. you should be able to browse it as normally the problem is in the boot sector

Smittie61984

I've been using computers for years and years and not once did I ever tell it "No" when something popped up and asked me a question. Probably about a year ago when I got my own computer I read what the crap said and often said "No" and I get screwed over.

But okay how much does a new Laptop Hard Drive go for? I have 60GBs worth of memory but would like more if it's not too pricey.

I also found out that Flickr does videos so I've been slowly uploading important vids to it that I can retieve(I hope) later.

Except one which is my most important video of a friend who is longer with me that is 152MBs with a 150mb limit. So I can't upload it. Which if I do get a new harddrive I'll upload it to sendspace and retrieve it later.

Thanks for the help guys. Glad to hear I may not have to get a completely new computer. I really didn't feel like forking out $1000 that I do not have.

Yep. That's a bit more difficult with a laptop, though. I did it with my old desktop, but it wasn't worth all of the hassle to do it with the laptop. At least in my case.

actually they sell cases for laptop harddrives... that make them USB HDD drives... so you can just buy one (under $50) and get your laptop up and running on a new drive and then recover what you want from the old one... (Hopefully)

Nice. Hadn't looked into that, but will definitely consider it in the future. Of course, what I had to do wasn't worth the $50, but may very well be worth it to smittie. Well, the $50 + the $120 or so for the new hard drive.

Yes if you go to either of those places you will get a good deal..

If you end up getting a new HD you will need a Windows XP CD.
If you can not find yours please let me know in a PM and we can get you one.

Once you get your new HD you can purchase something like this...

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1499245&Sku=V13-3234

Put your old HD in it and copy your videos and anything else you need to your new HD.

I hope that makes sense to you. There is no need to worry you will not loose any of your data.
Just be patient and we can get this resolved for you.

Thanks for the link Ebbs. I checked out some hard drives and the prices didn't seem to bad. Of course I don't know about the quality of them but I saw some 160GBs for $50 or so.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010150014+103530091&name=100GB+-+200GB

When looking at hard drives what should I look for? And if this matters I'd like to not spend more than $100 on a Hard Drive. So if I could get an 80GB hard drive that runs much better than a 160gb hard drive for the same price. Would the 80gb be worth it since I've been happy with a 60gb for over a year. I thik my RAM(?) memory is 512mb. Maybe a 1gb.(By the way that's about all the "Computer" I know)

Maybe in a couple of days I can get my computer to my buddy and let him tinker with it.

Newegg has some of the cheapest prices I've ever seen. Tiger direct is also pretty cheap. Make sure you look for a good brand (Seagate, Western Digital.) From my bro's experiences, Seagate is the better choice. He had two WDs go out on him, then got a seagate and it has worked great since.

Or you could just get a MAC and be 1/10000000 as likely to get a virus in the first place.

Well it reboted in normal mode this afternoon. And I got the Spyhunter to work too and it knocked off a lot of junk. But I still have the SGOBLXTM thing on the tool bar and got a couple of popups.

I'm running an AVG Free Edition scan now and it found something. I'm going to run it through.

Hopefully I can get it fixed all the way but who knows. I'm happy my computer doesn't freeze on start up now.

Thanks for the help people.

Call or email microsoft and see if you can get a backup disc from them. They should be able to give you one free of charge. But then again its Microsoft theyre all money hungry.

i had an HP. I couldn't find my original disks. so I went online and was able to purchase a back up and startup disks. I think it was $20. However, it might be something even worse... GOod luck.

Well my computer works fairly well but I'll probably get a flash drive this week and save all my video files and pictures to it before it does it again. Then reboot the bad boy and start fresh. The Virus is still on there but I tamed a lot of it an the spy zapper stuff isn't finding or removing it.

So I have 5GBs of pictures(Most all taken by me), 4GBs of Music(Which I can put on my 8gb MP3 player but rather not), and 2GBs of video(Non-porn video).

I'll probably do the new Hard Drive too while I'm starting over.

Also is there better stuff out there than Internet Exploerer and Windows? Since I've come to find out those are the most targeted programs since everyone uses them.

Firefox is my browser choice. It seems to run alot better/smoother and you can upgrade it and add different 'plug-ins' to suit your needs. You can download it here (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/).

As for a new OS I would say Linux. I have no experience with it but I hear if you want to have a top notch OS Linux is the way to go.

Hope that helps and good luck :dthumb:

Not trying to hijack the thread but Im running SpyHunter to try and take off the trojan on my comp. According to the scan I have more than just the trojan to worry about :panic:

like what?

google the name of the virus... you'll usually end up with some info how to remove it

Im not sure if its a virus but its something. Im trying to figure out what it may be. My comp runs fine all except that little trojan pop-up box. It says I have 7 bad files tho. I have figured out that I was right about the box prompting me to "fix" the problem by downloading what it said was an adware blocker. It turned out to be just what I thought it was: a trojan inside a trojan that downloads all sorts of malware.

so Spy hunter wasn't what recognized it and popped up the "alert"? it was the origional Trojan?

Nah when I used to get on my comp a pop-up would come up telling me I was infected with a trojan and I must download this file to fix it. If I downloaded the file it would have infected my comp even more. Its one of those viruses that are targeted towards the people that think if the comp says do it you have to do it. SpyHunter fixed it tho.

ahh ok... so your good now though? sometimes if your antivirus won't remove a threat... google the name of the virus... and you'll usually find steps to remove it... everytime that I've had to do this(once on my computer and countless times on friends)... it's involved editing the registry... so at that point... it's format time. fuck fucking around in the registry... I don't feel comfortable with that shit

Luckily there were no registries infected (that was one of the potentially infected categories) I am going to do a complete recovery once I can get a backup disc tho so it should be back to normal by then anyways. Any idea if I can get a backup disc for free? Or at least less than the $20 that commonboys had to pay.

I'm not sure what they mean my "registries infected" but I've had NEW registry entries and old entries that were altered by viruses... never were they fixed by symantec :idk:

Im beginning to think that Symantec is full of crap when it comes to viruses and trojans. According to Symantec my comp is just fine with no electronic blemishes whatsoever. Of course I have the version that just scans the comp every week so it may not have all the bells and whistles to detect such things.

well :idk: it's what we use here at work... and as long as the virus updates are going... we're good... and I've only gotten two or three viruses... and those were all from downloading crap off limewire. and only one wasn't able to be removed by Symantic...

Im guessing its because I have the limited version that it doesnt do that. I might need to renew it.

I have stop sign threat alert.... I love it. It's blocked so many things on my computer. So it's nice to know that I don't have to worry about it. Now I am thinking of getting a new computer so we will have to see.

stick with windows, switch to firefox. linux is great and very powerful, but can be very frustrating for new users that don't have a lot of patience. stick with what you are familiar with.

IDK, you'll have to ask Cutty about that one.... He's the one with the gross pictures so I am sure there has been porn too........

If I wanted to watch porn I would just go downstairs to the media room and watch it on the big screen.....
