View Full Version : How do you deal with judgemental riders?
So, this may be a girly question, but after a few years of this it's finally gotten the best of me. How do you deal with people that won't shut up about how you bought the wrong bike? I have a few friends I ride dirt with and one of them--who I consider a really good friend outside of riding--just absolutely will not shut up about how I should have bought a 2-stroke. His reasons don't even make sense--he says I'll be less tired, but I'M NOT FUCKING TIRED WHEN WE RIDE! He is...because he's on a CR250R. :wtfru:
Then there's the Honda people that won't shut up about how anyone who doesn't buy a Honda is stupider than mud. This particular guy happens to be both a 2-stoke guy and a Honda guy.
I'm a big boy, I've been riding motorcycles for a long time, I'm capable of making decisions based on my own circumstances which happen to be different from yours. Not a legitimate argument apparently.
2-stroke guys are typically more tired around here on our trails. They are more work in the mountain trails from what I gather.
Just tell him to shove it up his ass.

It's just the natural tendancy of men to pick on each other. If it wasn't about bikes, we'd be insulting each other's looks or weight or athletic ability or luck with women

"How about you ride your bike and I'll ride mine?"
"I'll remember that next time I was thinking about forcing you to ride my bike."
"I was just thinking the same thing about your wife/gf/fiance."

Anytime you know he's going to be away from his bike for more than a few minutes, piss on it. Then when he says something say, "you know, I think you're 100% right... but Honda's smell like piss."
"How about you ride your bike and I'll ride mine?"
"I'll remember that next time I was thinking about forcing you to ride my bike."
"I was just thinking the same thing about your wife/gf/fiance."
Yeah, he can dish it but can't take it. That's par for the course for this type of person it seems. Give anything back and you just get a 1/2 hour argument.
Today at lunch: "So me and Brian were talking and we thing both you AND DJ would be better off on two-strokes." STFU seriously.

Can you take him in a race? If so that'd be the best way to shut him up.

I likd any and all of these. Seriously, tell them when they buy and hand deliver a bike for you, their opinion will matter... Until that day, eff off.

Not in the dirt. I'll take him on the track easy but of course he will never go there.

But two strokes are so much cheaper. You could get a 125 for half of what your KTM cost.

I'm sure its just because they can't hear you over that loud ass 4 stroke. Your bike might have made them deaf. Right it on a piece of paper. Maybe they are not being pricks after all. :P
Fuck them. Ride what you want. If they are buying then suck it up and ride the 2 stroke. If not its your money, your choice.
I don't pay attention to all of that.
I love 2 strokes but I didn't have much fun pushing one out of the woods in motocross boots (in the mud) which ended up being about a 5-7 km push. :td: A 4 stroke would have been much better on that ride.

As long as I'm paying for it I ride what I want and don't really care what others think for the most part. Hell I like most bikes so I get along with most riders anyways.

To me, it seems as simple as saying, "you're irritating me to the point that I don't want to ride with you anymore. This is my bike, like it or, buy me another."

You know, I'm not even sure why this is a question. You Californians are just too PC for your own good. Luckily for you, I happen to be a certified assertiveness trainer.
Let's try a role playing exercise.
I'll pretend I'm your friend, you pretend you're not a 12 year old girl. Ready? OK, here we go:
Me: Brian and I think you should get a two-stroke.
You: I think you and Brian are faggots. In fact, I've been meaning to ask you if you use "two-stroke" as a control word when Brian is ass banging you.
Me: You look tired, you need a two-stroke.
You: You know who else looks tired? You mother, the bus-stop whore.
Me: I think...
You: Who the fuck cares what you think? You think Dick is a food group. Are we gonna ride, or do you have to fill in for Dear Abby today?
See? Easy.

This is the kind of response I was looking for.
What makes you all think I haven't told him to fuck off already?

Just stop hanging out or riding with them. Problem solved. When Nancy boys start complaining you dont play with them anymore, maybe they'll be ready to STFU.
I can't reply to your question because you don't ride a Honda.
