Was running around the mountains today around 530am and these little suckers started coming out of the wood works. They're called whip scorpion/vinegaroon, they look like scorpions except they don't have a stinger, just a little whip. I did the responsible thing and poked it with a stick than played with it for 20 minutes or so. It raised up like a scorpion but instead of striking out it just vibrates its tail in the air.
In my professional opinion, this creature is a fail at evolution.

yes, it FAILED at evolution, but its certainly a prime target for shooting at.

We have those here in Az as well. They can get up to almost 3 inches long (Not including the whip).
Doesn't sting, but has some sort of acidic type spray that smells like vinegar (hence the name vinega-roon).

Fuck with them long enough and they will pinch you with their claws, though. :didntdo:

That thing is so cool!!! How big was it?

Bout 2 1/2 inches, the one in the pic isn't the one I seen. I stole that from the net, next week I'm gonna try to get two of them together and see if they fight.
