Saw it in the road after it got squished, then ran to the house to get the camera.....neighbor had just chucked it into the vacant lot across the street. No head, so I couldn't tell if it had a pointy one to tell if it was venomous or not

Wow...copperhead
I wasn't sure if it was a copperhead or a corn snake. Not sure I've ever seen anything (in the wild) other than a black snake
Thanks

I never knew you got hit by one, how bad was it or was it a dry bite?

Didn't penetrate the skin. I was down in the "gully" on my grandparents land throwing old glass bottles and breaking them for fun. A copperhead had gotten trapped in the neck of one that I picked up without looking at. He bit my forearm but didn't have the strength to do any damage. Thank God.
Growing up on a ranch with a spring branch and three stock ponds meant I saw, caught or killed snakes everyday. We limited the killing to Moccasins and Copperheads.

I grew up in the city, with the weekends and summers spent in the mountains of Va where there weren't a great deal of snakes OTHER than black snakes, so as a result, my natural instinct when I see ANY kind of snake is to first SAY it...then do it, then try to run with underware loaded with it.

"being nice" has many definitions. In the case of a snake like that one, "being nice" means crushing its head and NOT setting the thing on fire.
