View Full Version : Have people always been so trashy?

Is striving for trashiness a new fad, or is the internet just helping us become more aware of it? I either see it more and more or notice it more and more every time I go out. Then there's the peopleofwalmart site which just completely blows my mind...though I've seen some of the same stuff.
One thing is for sure, I never leave home without at least one camera now.

People's addiction to TV, video games, the internet, and faraway suburban homes has created a home-nesting culture that has no clue how to act or dress when in public.

I don't know but it is annoying.
I've got a similar thought:
Do trashy people know that they are trashy?
-If so, do they like it or do they not think they can/should do any better?
-If not, do they look at "regular" people and think they are extra snobbish/uptight?
its generally the same, you just see it more since the world's shrunk quite a bit

I think it all started when it was no longer socially acceptible to spank your own child.
I use to FEAR the raised hand....now kids tell call their mother bitch (anyone see the octomom special?) and act however-the-hell-they-please. And part of that is refusing to care about themselves or how they look when they go out.
To me....sorry-ass=lazy and when I see the "people of walmart" the first thing I think is that they are lazy, and I bet their house reflects that

People are (ironically) striving to be more unique. What I find hilarious is that they're doing it the exact same way as everyone else.
Irony FTW

How true, everyone has to have their tribal tattoo or asian writing to be different just like all their friends.

I see it all the time. My nephew is a prime example of this. However in his defense he was also never taught how to act, dress or pretty much anything by his mom or stepdad.
He now lives with his dad after he was told he wasn't wanted at home. However, his stepmom just doesn't care about him and only does for HER kids.
But he is slowly learning and its covering all areas from personal hygiene, eating with his mouth closed, how to eat not like a starved cave man, how to dress with it not using sweat pants, and how to be mature and responsible.
He mentioned the other day to me and my wife thats its sad that he would rather be over at our house than at home. He knows he isn't wanted at home and his stepmom and stepsisters have no problem making sure he knows this.

See a lot of black folk with them around here too, guess its the whole shaoulin thing with the wu tang clan up here and the white people with them are usualy insecure college kids trying to be hip with some profound saying on their arm :wtfru:
And as far as the birkenstocks, we realy need to do something about that. its only acceptable if youre a granola eating hippie from vermont

Here it's hip to do it if you're wearing black socks and black shorts and some kind of black t-shirt (usually a motocross, martial arts, or death metal band shirt) :idk: ....weird but whatever floats their boat

Everyone has different standards. A long long time ago people of different classes and standards didn't interact nearly as much as they do now. :idk:

Our evil plan all started with Crispus Atticus convincing those white boys to rebel against Britain and form a "melting pot" type country! Now because of our machinations, all races, religions and creeds commingle into a singular mediocre type! Once Obama brings those troublesome Islamic holdouts into the mix, our plans of world domination will be almost complete!!!! Bhuwahahahaha!!!!

People no longer take pride in themselves or their belongings. You don't have to wear expensive clothes to look nice.
years back, people took pride in how they looked and presented themselves in public......You didn't have to be rich but you took care of what you had.
no one cares anymore.....

See, I think that folks in the deep south have access to the internet, and technology in general, so they are getting online, and they are spreading themselfs all over. Its just folks from TN, AL, MS and those states who are just showing themselfs to the world

It all depends on standards and where you are at. I don't see it as trashy to wear gym shorts and a decent t-shirt to class, but going to work it would certainly be trashy.
