What do you all think? We tend to push it on the roads we know and take it easy/easier on those we don't know and perhaps focus a bit more.

I don't push it at all on the street.

I am the opposite, I'm safer on roads I know.

I don't know if we're actually safer on unknown roads, as the same unpredictable factors exist ( i.e. Unaware cagers)... But I can see where our riding might be more cautious and focused. As to whether that nets out to greater safety is hard to determine though.

I'd say yes.

Depends on who you are. Me personally, I'm MUCH slower on unknown roads......but my buddy Brian was one to blaze a path though, even if he didn't know it all that well. Maybe at a SLIGHTLY less aggressive pace, but he didn't let an unknown road slow him down THAT much.

Ultimately that cost him his life

I think I'm over cautious on roads I don't know making it worse for me. I might be a little quicker on the known roads but I'm more relaxed which, for me, translates to clearer thinking, reacting differently, etc...

I'm equally as dangerous regardless...

I definitely leave more in reserve when I don't know the roads. More likely to ride at 60% than 80.. That's for certain.
