I've always liked them and might end up with one at some point, and I've seen them priced really well.

Looks sweet with one exception.. that hideous pipe. It is HUGE and looks totally out of place on that bike.

Saw one recently all decked out for touring, looked decent.

Could one of those be decked out for semi ADV riding?

The pipe would be the first thing to go...

I agree. I would FIND the money for a new one for this bike. Just seems totally out of place. I don't get it.

That's sexxay. Rear seat doesn't look much better than a regular sportbike though.

Rear seat doesn't look bad. From the one picture it looks like there is some contour to it so your butt would fit into it nicely. It also doesn't look like it slants as much as some of the sport bikes also making a decent ride.

I was torn between the FZ1 and R1 and ended up on a CBR:?:

Another nice thing about the back seat is the oh shit bars for bracing yourself during a stop or take off so you aren't slamming into the one driving. A lot of people make fun, but they are nice for that and for moving the bike around.

Yeah, it's a little bit more comfy than the sportbikes, but when he was talking about touring two up and such, figured it would be a little less aggressive.

I was thinking the same thing, and with that slight hump it would help the passenger from sliding into the rider too. He's got a girl, so that would come in handy.

racedoll

My bike has this hump on the passenger seat and it is as comfortable as you can get on a sportbike. The other factor on passenger comfort are the foot pegs placement and the tail section.

I've just been spoiled by the GS and expect higher levels of comfort now.

I'll prob get a Sargent seat for rider and passenger with a backrest for passenger.

yeah, that would work. I was going to go sargent, but I really want something I don't have to worry about comfort at all. So I bought a set of extra seat pans and shipped them off to Russell Day Long for custom made seats.

Never heard of it, but I'll look into it. This is all hypothetical at the moment anyway.

It's the king of custom seats according to advrider. No two seats are the same, they make them to your size/height. They look kinda goofy though. I will keep my stock seats for aggressive riding and put the day longs on for long trips.

I am sure they can, just give them a call. Awesome customer service. They use your seat pan, so as long as you can ship them a seat pan, they can make it work.

as a noob I can ask, is that an R6 or R1? or neither? Why are the fairings off?

Either an FZ6 or FZ1. It's supposed to be half-naked. Different frame and detuned engine.

If it's 1, I'd consider it. The 6- no chance.

It's a naked sport tourer, that's how they roll. It's a Yamaha FZ1. It's like a sportbike, but more comfortable.

You can pick up a set of aftermarket lower fairing that dress it out nicely.

but... but... WHY?!?

You can see the actual motorcycle (you know, the part that's normally hidden by plastic).

yeah, it's only half naked. Which is kinda weird because it's bottomless. It must have weird nipples, so it's afraid to go topless.

The more and more I think about it, the FZ1 will probably be my next bike.

CasterTroy

Odd thing about FZ-1's is if you go to the fazer boards, they spend most of their money and time trying to make it an R1 :idk:

It'd almost be more ecconomical to BUY an R1 and put a FZ tail and 1/2 fairing on it

I DO like the new FZ's though, and if they WERE a nekid R1 I'd likely had one instead of my R1

Rode it tonight. Very comfy riding position. I don't like the stock pegs, the kind with rubber on them. I'm used to Vortex clipons.

Anyway, I wanted to buy it, but the DA failed to mention that he didn't own it, the bank does.

Thanks, arse.
