And realized its been exactly ONE YEAR since the last time I was at the track.
I feel so out of practice. I havent even ridden more than a few miles since the rally in May sadly enough. Im totally rusty and way nervous, but I've bought it and I am more than ready to go.
Still trying to decide if I'll just strip her naked or put on the race plastics...
Anyone else gonna be at Jennings GP the weekend of October 24-25?

Its a bit far for you trippy poo...
Yep, got the bike fixed, finished everything up this evening actually. The starter issue was loose wires, FIL fixed that while he was detailing it. Replaced the exhaust with an aftermarket, and completely removed the SET system. She sounds great and no more crappy noises!

Dude, if I lived closer I'd be right there with ya. With roads like you got, I'd never need a track day.

just take it easy at first. I was in a similar situation last week. My first session out i was a mess, lines were off missing apexes by miles. Fortunatley a coach grabbed me and I followed him around and we talked a bit afterwards and it was a big help. Took a few more sessions to ge tback up to speed( we also had a lot of crashes) but by the end it was def clicking and was fun riding in anger again

Talk about bad timing... the water pump in my tow vehicle went out just this week. Hey, you want a cheerleader if I can make the ride up? Is your bro going?
One day, I will go to a track day... I WILL!

Aight, made it back alive. It went way better than I could possibly have thought.
Even tho I havent been in a year, and havent been riding hardly at all the last 8 months, it was great. I didnt regress or lose anything, I had better skills than any previous track day, better positioning, better times and a ton more confidence. I dont know why, but it worked out!
One of my greatest fears is passing, both on the street and the track, but yesterday for some reason I was spot on and made tons of GREAT passes. The sweeper in 1 at Jennings is VERY conducive to passing on the outside as well as 13 into 14. I LOVED IT.
Since I only live 30 mins away, I am going to try and get there about every other month, hit me up if your interested in going and want company!
(oh, and for the record, tho I am super excited still, I feel like Ive been beaten with a baseball bat! UGH!)

Glad to hear you had a great day. A group of 10 or so local riders are heading down there for some days in January.

Here's a pic I got from the track photog. Not bad, but I gotta work on keeping the bike more upright, a few of the shots I can tell I have less contact area than I think I need...had at least 1 good wobble I had to throttle out of due to too much lean. Im crazy, I wont lie, I giggled. Yesterday really made me remember how much I love this stuff.
Still not gung ho on street riding anymore, but well, one day I'll get an ADV bike.

Looking good. I wouldn't worry too much about your lean angle.
You still have plenty of tire left.
I didn't make it. One of my buddies that went had his first ever track get-off in the second session. It was minor but it ended his day.
What kind of times are you running up there?

Damn, I hope he was okay. I'd like to say that I could recall, but there were so many getoffs this weekend its a wonder we had full sessions. No helicopter rides Sunday tho, so thats good.
In that pic, I do have plenty of room, here's one showing a bit less:

Im running consistently in the 1:38-1:42 range, but obviously much slower when hitting traffic. I feel like I am ALMOST ready to bump up, but I'll wait till the track manager tells me to go for it. He's the one that helps me with my timing and he'll let me know.
I really need to work on shifting to higher gears to get alot more speed in the straight aways too. The CR's told me they cant help me with my lines or body position but they had me experimenting with later braking, and I could definitely see the difference...
Looks like you are running really wide in that pic, I don't know if you are setting up for the next corner, but there is a lot of inside real estate there from the looks of the tire marks.
As far as body position, you are so little, I don't know how much weight you can really shift to make a difference in lean. What tires are you running? Go with a stickier compound if those are starting to slide at that angle.

Nah, take a look at the tire marks, its a set up for the next corner. Tho I think I could cut it a lil tighter. That particular area is like pinball. swing in tight, then to the outside, back in and out again...I follow the meatballs religiously.

I think I was possessed. I seriously dont know what happened but it was like I never left and my confidence was scaring me. I had to ask a buddy if I was doing something wrong. I thought the better I got, the less knee draggin I would be doing, but my racer buddies said I look like a kickstand with my long legs and that its ok. I'll just burn more plastic.
EDIT: And like I've mentioned in other threads, I practice my style on the street too, its just much more comfortable taking a turn with proper body positioning even on the street. I think that helps me alot. You should come visit, theres not enough women out there!

WOW.
That is a lot of lean.
Is that T11?
My friend was fine. Bruised and a broken pinkie but nothing major.

Motorcycles only? Seems like a stupid move, car groups can bring in a lot of money.

Jennings was built by a rich guy that wanted a place for motorcycles to play.
It isn't fancy but it's bikes only. Cars tear tracks up quickly. Trackdays are cheap and plentiful.
They average almost 15 days a month with the track in use.
Glad you had such a great day back!! I haven't ridden on the track in so long, I'm almost embarrassed to say. I'd almost rather have my re-introduction at a track day without people I know there  just so I'm not further embarrassed.
Those 2 pics look great!

How much $$$ is a typical track day at Jennings?

Thanks for the thoughts guys, I am already planning my next day back.
Is that sarcasm Shmike? And yeah, thats 11, getting ready to hit WOT for 12 (makes me giddy just thinking bout it!).
During the week if you can get in I think its only $105. Its a good time tho, once you get to know some of the people that run it, its a blast. You never know what you'll get yelled at for and more often than not its a good thing! I fully admit, Dan is scary but I love him to death!

My comment about your lean angle? NO, not at all.
That is a serious amount of lean, especially for that turn.
The sooner you get the bike upright, the sooner you can be at WOT.
I looked for a pic of me there for reference but all the lefts I have are of T5 & 6.

Wow, thank you! T11 is the one I got a lil squirrelly in possibly due to not having enough tire down but I throttled out of it successfully. Just one more thing to work on! We'll def have to meet out there sometime.
