I replaced the side panels, scoops, and manifold covers with carbon fiber pieces. Too much?

I thought the whole point of the Vmax was "too much of a good thing is Wonderful"

I'm not an huge fan of CF for purely decorative functions, but I do like the look of the scoops over the stock units.

The V-Max is a very masculine looking bike to begin with, so to my eye, the manifold cover and side panels look out of place. Personally, if I were to "Mad Max" a V-Max, I would lean more toward nickle plated manifolds, and brushed aluminum side panels, with lots of holes drilled into them.

It is hard to say since I don't know what it looked like before.
The important thing is that YOU like it.

Mine was an '88... are those Dale Walker braces I see? Did you also get the V-Boost kit? Those braces and the engine guards were the best mods that I ever made to my bike!!!

I have the vboost kit the swedish guy on ebay sells. It's installed but currently unplugged. Vboost phasing in @ 3k is problematic when traffic is slow going. It also murders my mileage.

That's just it, I don't know if I do. The previous shots are in that bikes/mugs thread

I thought I liked the update until you posted the profile shot.

I prefer the "before" better.

Like JC said, I think the black and chrome are more "Max", I also dig the flames on the fintakes.

Dale Walker sells/sold a kit that allowed the rider to totally control V-Boost with a button... very handy!

I like it both ways, but I think it would look best with the stock side covers and the carbon "intake".

I too think it looks good either way... but it's a freakin' V-Max so it'll be moving so fast nobody will be able to see it but you

I like the subtle flames in the stock version, but it is your bike so ultimately your choice.

I'm going with stock scoops, carbon side covers/manifold covers. The scoops are too much part of the design. I think that change is what I didn't like.

I'm gonna say without the carbon fiber bits

Scot

The stock side panels need paint. They are the wrong silver, and are also dinged up a bit. I have a rear dirt catcher that has a custom width carbon fiber end. It was out of place as it was the only thing carbon. I'm going to leave the side covers carbon (I like the darked out look) and the subtle manifold covers.
