Wow. My bucket list just grew.

As a child in the '60s, I used to love staying up late until the television stations would sign off. Our local channel used to show footage of a jet pilot soaring high above the Earth, while someone recited the poem "High Flight". I think James May knows exactly what the author of this poem meant when he said he "put out his hand and touched the face of God".

Call me picky but I'd rather fly higher and much faster at Mach 3+ ... I want a flight in an SR-71!! :D

That can't go over well. "You passed Egypt 10minutes ago, this is Alaska, that's it, pull this thing over I'm asking for directions"

The SR-71 would be nuts too. And from what I remember don't those planes fly near stall? Something like 30mph less and they'd be falling out of the sky (when at full altitude)

They took off from my old duty station in California... Beale AFB...

I was supposed to get an incentive ride in that same U2... for winning Airman of the Year for Beale... but fuck'n planes got grounded cause the damn pilots were screwing around with each others wives...
