What tank grips do you all suggest? My only requirement is that it comes in black.

Also, since I have been working on moving around my bike more I have been scooting my butt all the way to the rear seat cowl. Because of this my leathers have been scuffing up my plastics. I am thinking of getting some sort of thin pad to stick there so I don't just have scratched up plastic. Does anyone have any experience with anything like that? Good or bad?

Here is an idea of what I am talking about as far as a butt pad...

Just buy the 1098 and be done with it:dribble: I have no personal experience with the tank grips but I've heard mixed reviews on them but I'll let those with experience chime in on those.

It would be pretty easy to fabricate a cushion for the back seat area at minimal cost.

Everyone up here uses Stomp but have heard bad things about it in the heat.

I think Derf was talking once about another type of grip that's similar. Maybe he'll chime in.

Get TechSpec. They are black, and they aren't as aggro as StompGrips are.

Lotsa folks use the stomp grip. I prefer to go without, I find it binds me up and restricts my movements. Friends of mine swear by them tho, and like the effect of sticking to the tank.

As far as butt pad, cant help ya on that really. What about some of that thin clear adhesive stuff folks use as tank protector material?

I use stomp, haven't run with it in over 100F but it's worked well so far. As far as the butt goes I suggest not scooting your but back quite so far :p Or get a solo cowl.

Just took a look at the Tech Spec...I like the looks of it a lot better than the Stomp Grip.

I dont care for the spiked tank pads, they hurt. They were reccommended to me at the rally in May and I tried a Gixxer with them and even through my leathers they really messed with my inner thighs and hurt. Add to that I can see them tearing up your leathers over time pretty easy.

What I saw that Kelly was talking about was a hard plastic pad that sticks on the gas tank, right where the crease is on the upper portion of the 1098 tank, you can lock your knee up against it. I have read a few people love them, really give a good place to hook your leg on the tank. BUT, I havn't found a place to buy it yet, or who makes it. Everybody who has it got it from a friend, at a track, some random shop in the middle of oklahoma that doesnt have a phone number or before the internet was created

As far as the butt scratcher thing you be looking for, use some high density seat foam. If you look hard enough, you can find it a few inches thick and trim to your needs.

I've never had a problem finding Stomp Grip. Lots of shops up here sell it. :idk: That said, I feel similar to Derf....I'm going for Tech Spech.

TechSpec is really good. It has grip, but it won't tear up you leathers. Also, it is repositionable

The stomps I had on the R1 were not used due to the fact that they were cut to mount too high :idk:

Those of you saying Tech Spec are there any differences in the different types? I really like the look of the High Fusion. :beers:

Riding hard in 90deg+ with Stomp Grip is a good way to get it removed.

It's garbage to me personally. The buttpad on the other hand could be useful if you have alot of power put down and you get propelled forward instead of nose-up.
