Where a Pilot Road 2 begins to slip under throttle at 44 degrees??? I thought about laying it down to save it, but my pucker factor kept me on the seat when it wiggled.

At least now I know my limits with this tire in this weather..

Ps.. I need to learn to use this camera or to buy a good one..

Jesus, is that a knobbie? If you're slipping even in street use, it might be time to move to a more aggressive tire next time :)

I must have missed what's funny about the whole "lay it down" thing I'm seeing everywhere.

Road 2's are notorious for not liking the cold. It's a trade off. My corsa iii's could have gone to the edges at 30 degrees and I'm sure they would have stuck well. These things I've had lock up at street lights under normal braking at anything approaching 45 degrees or so.

But, I got less than 3000 miles out of a corsa 3, and I shit you not the road 2 has more than 7000 miles on it.

:wtfru: I was thinking 44 degrees of lean angle

:lol I was thinking, I wanna see how far I can lean these things over in the cold so I can stop worrying about it and enjoy riding!

hmmm, makes me leary about road 2's then. believe it or not it gets cold in ND, and i ride then.

May stick to powers... i'll get 7K out of them easy, and as long as I wait a mile they stick almost as well as the corsa's.

I'm not too worried. I don't usually ride when it's colder than it is now. And it was a decreasing radius corner, so I had to tighten my line a bit, which is when I felt the shimmy/slide/slip.

It didn't really shake me too bad. Just slipped then regained traction.

There was some leaves on the ground and I was about to lay it down to avoid it but the wind picked up and blew them outta the way

44 degrees? Shit, NO tire likes it when it's 44 degrees. Even the Bridgestone BT016's slip when it's that cold.

Bullshit. Both my Corsa III's and my PP's on the 1125 got broke in with weather in the 20's!

Never had a slip out of either one, and I pushed them far harder than I should have.

Here is a pic of the first ride on my PP's. Yes that's snow. Yes those are snowmobile tracks in the gravel.
In fact, I raced a sled that was in the ditch right before this... I won.

The pilot powers seemed to do rather well in the cold as did the original pilot roads. At least for me they did.

All I can go off of is my own experience. Maybe your bike isn't powerful enough to break the tires loose. :idk: It is a 600 class bike after all. My BT016's slipped all the time when it was that cold. PP's were much better in the cold but those were also on a less powerful bike.

Power pulses of a twin help traction considerably..

I've spun up the rear on my 675 on BT016s. I don't really ride in anything y'all would call "cold" :badger:

My 015 would spin in a straight line at 75mph when it was just past the wear bars, in September.

Now I have a Dunlop Qualifier and it has much better traction.

Yeah..

The bike was still in the garage and I hadn't started it up yet. I saw the leaves in the road and I started the process to lean it over to lay it down but then the wind picked up and blew the leave away. I didn't even have a chance to get the kickstand all the way up.

So i just put it back on the kick stand and finished putting on my helmet.

The other day there were leaves and the garbage truck was in front of the house collecting garbage. I said "ole shit!!", put on some jeans, ran into the garage and knocked both bikes over.
Had to lay em down.

Nice save!

Good thing the leaves weren't attached to a man eating cable on the edge of a cliff.

BTW, fuck you both.
