They are correct for only about one-third of those.

I always loved the Aston Martin Lagonda. They're dead wrong on that one IMHO.

Yes! All the cars my car is confused for was on there, but not my awesome lil xB!!! :nee:

I disagree with a lot of those, but there's two I didn't see that SOoooooooo needed to be on that list: The Merkur Xr4ti, and the (Pontiac?) Aztec.
Avatard
11-12-2009, 06:58 PM
Aztec was there. The SR4Ti in Euro trim wasn't that horrid, IMHO.
The list needs one more entry:

Ah, good, glad the Aztec was on there. I've never seen an xr4ti in euro trim, but the stateside version sucked donkey nads.
That Bugatti isn't bad: looks like a beefy Audi .... On crack.

Really? I think the Bugger is uglier than shit. I see what they were going for; the nods to classic Bugs in the lines...but the overall look is just butt fugly, IMHO.

I think they mistook utilitarian for ugly. The VW Thing is utilitarian, not ugly. The Gremlin however, now that's ugly.

I think it's kinda cool lookin... Still has a bit of a cartoony, concept car look, but I would think they'd tone it down for production.

Agreed. On both counts.

I like my little Jeep Compass.. I am slightly insulted..lol but then again some of those cars weren't that bad.. Some on the other hand were horrid..

Wrong on the ...
Lamborghini LM002
Plymouth Prowler
Cadillac Escalade
BMW 7 Series
Ferrari Enzo
Hummer H2
DeLorean DMC-12
I detailed one of the cars on the list (well more then one but this one you don't see everyday), I had to buff it for a car show.
Bricklin SV1
This is pictures of the one I did.

Eh.....you detailed it nice, but it still has awkward lines. Consider the strange way the driver's windowsill slopes upwards, preventing someone from resting their elbow on it. The skinny twigs for exhaust tips. The tiny, useless rear quarter window. The rear bumper with all the character of a railroad tie. And wow, the FRONT bumper is even worse.....It looks like a tongue coming out of an insect. IMO the only semi-cool thing about it are the pop-up lights and the fake vents.

I didn't say it looked good. I just said I buffed one. From a distance I don't think they are ugly but they are not great looking. And from what I remember from driving it, it wouldn't matter if the windowsill slopes upwards because it is too high anyway. I could be wrong but I think it was high. And a lot of new cars have sills that are to high to use as a arm rest. But thats why they add arm rest on the doors.
I like the doors. And I like the fact that I had a chance to detail a car that isn't that common. But looking at that one close up and looking at the one the owner of the building owned, they didn't hold up well. Or the are just bad examples of the car.
It was still nice to add to the list of cars that I've done.

And I'm not sure but I think the exhaust tips were added on by the owner. I don't think they are too small, just stick out to far.

I know that they are considered by many Ugly but I loved the Gremlin and the Pacer. There was a Gremlin with a 390 in it just down the road from me as a kid I loved it! The Pacer what can I say guilty Pleasure.

They just remind me of the 80's when people would buy chrome tips at Auto Zone to stick over their Chevette or Celebrity's exhaust pipe.

The Sierra Cosworth was the shit. Practically uninsurable in England but great none the less. Some others I disagree with have been mentioned but:
VW Thing
Lambo LM002
Subaru Brat
Plymouth Prowler (not enough engine, but that doesn't affect the looks)
7 Series (Bangle butt has grown on me over time)
Enzo (the functionality of the design, wrongly called superfluous by the author, has a beauty of its own to me)
Subaru Baja
There are others, but those are the ones that jumped out to me.

I'd say anything made my AMC belongs on the list with the exception of the Jeep line prior to the sell off to Chrysler.

Subaru Baja
I've never been a fan of the Baja, but once we joined the Subaru Cult (which is what it is... we drank the Kool-aid!), I began to develop an appreciation for them. Damned capable vehicle, and the enthisiasts drive the bejeezus out of them - whereever they want.

/agree
alot of cars on there dont deserve to be.
I remember my father showed me a lagonda once in an upscale car lot, and he laughed saying how he used to think it was so awesome and futuristic looking, and helped ignite his passion for cars, but seeing it again, it was not quite as amazing as he had remembered it was. still cool though... and i agree.

Some people still do it now. Around here its Canadian Tire. Back in the day you would see cars or trucks going around with everything they could get out of their performance book. Looked like hell.
That one looks worse because they still out so far. Add a foot to them and it would look like a wheel barrow.

The Escort Cosworth was fantastic, while being even more uninsurable than the Sierra Cosworth. It didn't help that at early 1990s exchange rates the Escort was around $50k new. The Cosworth motors were built strong as hell and can reliably make over 400hp through a different turbo, chip, and injectors.

I read a lot about them as a kid and did some searching. Thats what I wanted was something around 400hp with AWD and I loved that wing on the hatch. I think it would have cost me about $40000 to get it to Canada when I was looking and I think there might have been some changes needed to make it legal.
I still wouldn't mind having one.

I worked at a gas station and a woman pulled up in one. She said she loved the car. She told us that one day the same cop pulled over her car twice. Once with her husband driving by himself and then later when she was driving. They both got tickets.
When she left she came on to it heading up the on ramp.

They are over 15 years old now, and are legal for import.
Much better than all the skyline/CRX/300ZX/silvias around here.

Damn. How could they do the El Camino. That's spanish for The Camino! Plus I love the late 60 Caminos (I'll admit 70 or so and up are shitty). They are fucking sweet!
I'm glad the Prius is in there. I actually rode in one yesterday and the inside is just as ugly as the outside. Though the backup camera was really cool.

The old one.
The second one was just auto only.
First gen was stick only with the 3.0
Awesome sleeper.
Second gen was initially stick (with the 3.0) only but then offered an auto paired with a 3.2 a little bit later.
Awesome sleeper.
Third gen was a fuckstorm shit bag thought up by Nascar loving dog cock suckers who thought that an what people really wanted was an ugly looking crap box with a weak V8 paired to a fag-o-matic.
A problematic fart bag of a V-8 at that.

When I said 2nd gen I meant the V8 one.
How were there 2 generations before that one? The body never really changed before the V8 one came out, other than maybe a few plastic pieces.

Eh.......the second was just a face-lift, not a new platform. Calling it a new generation is kinda ghey IMO.
And in terms of styling, I'd take any of those three over the new 2010. The new one has slab-sided doors with uber-high windowsills. Do they think someone is going to forge a river with it?
