Homeslice might be able to help with this. I need a nice pair of black polishable shoes.

Here is the catch. I want nice looking shoes that feel like Asics gel nimbus.

Well, "real" dress shoes have a hard leather sole that you can shine with edge dressing, but they're pretty stiff and you wouldn't want to try to run in them. For the best comfort, get a 100% rubber sole instead (not just a "combination" sole which is 50/50 rubber/hard stuff). Of course, you won't be able to shine a rubber sole, but whatever. As for brands, Rockport is pretty good at making walkable/comfortable dress shoes for $100 or so. They're kinda conservative looking though.

I don't need to run in them. Thats what the Asics are for, I just need to be able to stand in them all day. I'm back into sales so I need to put away the work boots and put on some dress shoes. I'm using my brother in laws shoes that have rubber soles. I don't need to polish the edge of the soles.

There might be a pair or two that might be ok on the Rockport site but the closest store is almost an hour away so I won't have time to check on them anytime soon.

Next time I'm at the mall I will have to try on a new pair of the ones I'm wearing of my brother in laws. They have been worn a fair bit but still don't feel real bad so a new pair might be ok. I will have to try some out.

James,

I went to Men's Warehouse, and the cat there set me up w/a pair of "Calvest" dress shoes, (I told him my feet were fubar). He said he puts everyone w/problem dogs in 'em, and that they're the shit. Gotta say; pretty fucking comfy.

I have several pairs of Rockports (which feel like sneakers) that are like you described.

I also have a few pairs of of Belvedere shoes from Men's Warehouse

...between those and the Belvedere Marco line (I have a pair in brown and a pair in black) is probably the most comfortable shoe I've ever owned in my life.

Yes, made in Brazil, apparently (Brazil and Italy make the best shoes).

Walmart, i bought a pair there last year, feel like sneakers, look like dress shoes, and I use a wipe on hard polish if I need to do the edge of the sole. I usually wear them with jeans and a dress shirt

I have a pair of Rockport dress shoes; another vote for them. I also have a pair of Kenneth Cole dress shoes that are very comfy and will take a polish - I think they are called Reaction.

Rockports for me but I've also had some luck with Kenneth Cole and one shoe from Easy Spirits.

I may have to check out this "Calvest" brand since I've never even heard of it.

I have these two pairs exactly.

Rockports in black
Kenneth Cole Reactions in Brown.

Both have held up well in the year and a half that I've had them. Both pair are nice and comfy.

Reactions were stiff when I got them but broke in VERY nicely.

For a few years, I only wore Bostonian shoes. The most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. A little salty on the price, but well worth it. I had a black pair I wore 4 days a week and lasted me a little over a year.
