For the most part it was a blast. I did really well in the corners, passing most, but the 3 straights would KILL me. I top out at 105 and I know I did an indicated 161 on the back straight years ago on my TLR...so I would get molested like a lone sheep on a lonely Wyoming farm on the straights. But in the 30 minute sessions I would only get lapped ONCE by about 8 of the 30 riders, and one insane bastard on a R6 would lap me 3 times....but he was crazy/stupid/insane fast
Had fun though....need to find smaller tracks within 3 hours of me because this is just slightly too big for the motard.

There were only 2
Camera died before I got pics of everything.
They had about 1/2 dozen type R integra's and an OLD 318i 4 door that was tearing those porsche's UP :lmao:
we had a few F18's dogfighting above us (Fort Jackson) and 2 different bi-planes dogfighting at lunch.....nice little addition to the day

Cool pics.
I'm pretty sure that I know the guy with the red Porsche GT3. He also has a Porsche race car that he tracks there. He used to have a Superformance Cobra replica and I was lucky enough to drive...same with that red Porsche but I've never driven his race car.
Looks like a blast.

He's a pretty cool guy too. I'll ask him if he was there this weekend for sure but it does look like him. I work for him.

You coming Sun to the mini track day?
I once knew a guy named "Hugh Dam Skippy"
;)
I need some out-door carpet and an E-Z-Up. LOVE to have one with sides n-such. You know any good hook-ups? Anyone your way have one they may want to sell? If so we could do the exchange sunday
Fraid I don't know of any for sale. LOL I've got a great one, bought it from SAM's for 200 bucks. I just wish I would have ponied up for it from the start instead of going through 3 cheap ones. :( Of course you can pit with us. I've got to call the guy who has our bike and make sure he'll be able to bring it! Of course, if the weather is looking really bad we won't go, as we've only got slicks. So far the weather is looking "acceptable", but this far out, 30% chance of rain could turn into a sunny day, or a hurricane. LOL We'll nail down everything on Friday. Gun show Saturday, mini ridin Sunday. Gonna be a good weekend!

Oh yeah.....pleanty of them. This weekend in fact is STT's on the main course....I' going back for the kart track if it's not a downpour.
Nesba runs there too
Nope. :( Just gonna go pick up our bike and head home. Maybe in Dec we'll go do the Middle GA race at the Herrin's place. I hate this though, been waiting for half a year to get on this new mini track!

Looks like you had a good time! I've only been to that track once; if you can hang there on a Motard you'd be fine on VIR North, VIR South, and VIR Patriot. You would not enjoy Full or Grand.
I hope the weather cuts you a break!

well I held my own thru most of the corners, but 7, 8 & 9 were a slaughter because between 80-100 I don't have ANY power....I just have to let it build

 I bet, that's a long stretch of pavement there for a Motard! The only place you'd struggle on a Motard at VIR North would be the front straight and maybe the roller coaster (not if you rode with the beginner group).
I remember T10 at CMP pretty well. I finally carried some good corner entry speed in and hit that "hump" on the inside at 120+. Damn near put me in the infield at a pretty high rate of speed and I nearly had to lock up the front to slow down for T11. Took about 2 sessions to get back into form through that section.

:lmao:
I could carry my full top speed (once I GOT there) of a whopping 105 thru the hump and even over it with ease on the motard...and I didn't have to even HIT the brakes till after #2, so I could really make up ground from there to 14, but once we started on the straight, everyone I passed came around doing the :nee:
But I spoke with most of the riders and they were all cool and said I wasn't in the way. Most everyone said the same thing:
I was laughing under my helmet following you, that motard looked like sooo much fun, especially through T11 and 12 u were flicking that thing like it weighed nothing.
Dude, have you ever considered changing the gearing? Throw on a one tooth larger front sprocket.
One of these days I wonder if I could get out and do a track day with you on Caleb's 125. In fact, I'll bet I'd whip 90% of everyone out there on that bike. The thing is a doctor's scalpel, even with my massive butt on it! I've got another set of forks, I could have Traxxion throw some heavy springs in, and I've already got a heavy spring for the shock that I could change out... :D

Well at 105 it's not running into the limiter....it's just out of POWER. I honestly think it would be SLOWER with a larger front sprocket, but not certain. I think (with my big ass on it) it's reaching its aerodynamic/power threshold at 105 but I COULD be wrong.
At anything over 105 I’d need a steering damper anyway….any ideas on one of those for a motard Clay?
I dunno…I may throw $1500-$2000 at it in the spring for a 747 kit and a pair of flatsides to give me that power from 80-whatever but that’s a lot of cabbage
Hmmm, I guess the torque curve of the engine will make the difference. It's not a sportbike that would rev out to high RPMs. I've never tuned a big single like that so I have no idea. Couldn't hurt to spen 20 bucks on a front sprocket and give 'er a try though.
Personally, I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a bike that was never meant for the track. Instead, sell it and get an already built SV or something like that, even a dedicated 'tard if you love that style.
I still may look at going to the MGKT race Dec 5-6. Just depends I guess.

I DO love this style bike...it's friggin insane. But for city hooligans and tuggles gap riding.
With Brian's death I've kind of sworn off the tuggles gap, and the city hooligans isn't any fun without a partner in crime (again Brian)
I'd responded to a thread on Wera with JUST a picture of the motard to a guy in MD with 2 track GSXR 600's with bill of sale only (insurance total loss bikes) and now he's interested......not sure at all if I'll pursue that because track-only means that I'd HAVE to travel to ride it, test it, tune it....etc.
You should look into the Aprillia 550, '08 and newer. ;)
