They charge $250 for an adoption fee? I have never adopted a dog through a shelter but that seems pretty steep to me.

Probably covers spaying/neutering and shots, deworming, etc...

Also, it might be cared for in a foster home rather than a shelter. (we paid a little bit more than normal when we adopted our cats, but they were fostered :shrug: )
