Dont think anyone here realy knows but I got some shitty news about a pt I saw over labor day weekend that wound up having a very bad outcome (cant go into any details at this time) either way it was a perfect ending to a rather brutal week. Fortunatley I had a couple days off from the ER to kind of regroup.

I was a bit anxious tonight esp after having to see a few patients with similar complaints as the other one. Was a little tennative at first but seemed to get through it so I think all will be well.

Way to give us just enough details to have no fucking idea what you're talking about, Tom.

I don't know if anyone know this but that thing that I had on the other thing turned out to be something else. Luckily after I....well you know...well I just did.

So now I am stuck here thinking whether I should have done things with the other thing but hey, thats how it goes.

Lets just say there may still be legal ramifications of a case that ended poorly (as in read the obituaries ;) ) and I may be the fall guy for it. risk management is already on it and thinks we will be ok which still didnt make me feel better at first since this is the first time I am in this sort of situation.

And rider summed it up best with there needing to be lots of booze ;)

I'm as interested as anyone else to hear the story but keeping it off a public forum, either posts or PM, is the best plan. Working in the medical field seems to be like, oddly enough, riding motorcycles. The "its not if, but when" statement dealing with crashing appears to also apply to potential legal issues working in health care.

Compare the one patient with a poor outcome to the thousands of patients you have treated who had good or great outcomes. Don't let it get you down.

From what little parts of work you do post about, you do take your profession very seriously. I'm sure you did your absolute best at the time.

It's easy for someone to look back ( after days or weeks with PLENTY of time ) and say " you should have done this".

Good luck and don't doubt yourself

I need to get out and ride that damn thing more too. I am off tomorrow and am hoping to ride some just to get away for a few hrs if the rain stops early.

Took the day off. I'm at the Doc right now. Just felt like taking the day. Govt workers FTW.

And actually Tom, I'm still waiting on a fucking bushing from Whites. Gonna call them when I leave here.
