Well, we went and did it! I got the dealership to take her '08 Ninja 250 + $6500 for a '09 GSXR600. We were in a huge hurry, so I didn't get pics yet but here's a stock pic.
I've already been in contact with my powder coater (pink, yuck) and painter...
I actually wanted her to go for the '08 white/silver/blue but it was only a $500 difference so....:idk: She's super happy and I'll get you all some pics when we pick it up Tuesday. We were too late to get the money out of the bank... :(

Well done.
Sure you can't talk her out of the pink?
Riding next to a pink-trimmed bike is kind of like smiling in a photograph.

No pink, seriously. In 6 months or less she'll hate it and wish it looked like it did when she bought it.
Ask me how I know this. REALLY, have her ride it around for a bit as is before getting the pink, that is one sharp ass looking bike, it needs nothing more than her attractive ass on it. Get her pink gear or something to make up for it.

No, it was a "promise bike".
j/k Tigger. I'm glad you guys got a good deal and plus one to talking her out of the pink. She has all that pink gear and would look super hot in that on this bike. And if she would ever want to sell, I would think a pink bike would make it much harder.

15% of all riders are women. Of that less than 20% of those women ride sportbikes. Unless you're willing to repaint the thing before you attempt to sell it, skip the pink.
And congrats, glad she felt able to move to a bigger bike so soon.

It's awesome that she got a new bike and that's a really forgiving one, I rode one on Tuesday and as much as I hate sport bikes I hought about it. No pink, dude, only really bitchy, annoying old broads really dig pink. After a little while riding in a group she'll be embarrassed and you'll never be able to sell it. But congratulations to her for getting a new bike, and to you for tapping that ass.

How old is she and how old is he? I hope he didn't pay for this shit.
And DON'T PAINT THE BIKE!!!! The white is an aweseome color.

I didn't pay for this bike.
She's 21, I'm 44.
I'm working on the pink, really, really hard... That's why I wanted her to go with the '08. I had a rim tape plan that was gaining traction... At any rate, getting the rims done will only cost $150, so it's not that big a deal. The parts that she wants to paint pink are the seat cowl, the ram air covers, and the air box cover, also reasonably inexpensive to replace items. So why not?:idk: Here's a very crappy mock up....

Congrats on the bike.
I say if she wants pink, let her have pin. I don't understand why people worry so much about resale. I know its important but I would never buy something if I'm thinking about selling it before I even put my money down on it (unless I'm buying it to sell for profit). I doesn't make since. I bought my R6 because I wanted it, and at that point didn't really want to ever get rid of it. Damn I miss that bike.
But I think she should make the bike hers and enjoy it.

That's where I'm at... Obviously, I'm not against going all out to make a bike "unique"... I'm with you, who's trying to sell it? besides, we live in a college town that is over 60% women so the odds of selling a pink bike are much higher here if she ever decides to. Plus we have a large black population, most of which are female and quite a few black female bike riders (a black girl bought her old bike), whom would be likely to appreciate a pink bike. Lastly, she only wants to paint parts that are easily and cheaply replaced... heck, I can get the rims for about $200.:idk: I have her talked into starting slow on the pink and focusing on learning to ride the bike first. I'm very concerned because she has developed some nasty "250 habits" which I need to address!!!

What's a nasty "250" habit?
Real question, no sarcasm.

Probably just a small thing that is fine on a 250, but when you get on a bigger bike, can bite you in the ass before you know it.

I say tell her to ride for one year before painting. Not of the "dont get pink" but it sure does suck to have something done and then wreck.

I think the pink she wants is WAY overboard but I'm a fan of plain.
Here is a link (http://www.soflasportbikes.com/forum/member-photos/202503-pink-purple-decals.html) to a local girl that added some "girlie color" to her '08 without overdoing it, IMO.

I wish they made the 750 in all white. Of course you could always swap plastics since they are identical in size.

It'd be nice if they made -all- cars and motorcycles in a 'Paint-your-own' format.
Seems like enough people do that anyway.
It'd be easier to get bass boat paint on them.

congrats! fuck it... it's her bike... the only thing to worry about it how SHE likes it.
fuck resale... worry about that when you're ready to SELL!
one of the best parts of buying something new is MAKING IT YOUR OWN!
so damn... she's not gonna look like every other damn rider out there...
also.. if it's that BRIGHT ASS PINK... it might bring a bit of CAGE attention... to keep her hot ass off the pavement!
