You should know better than to think that it will stop. I think it is a little funny since I don't see SLI sticking around for a terribly long time with all the new display interfaces they are coming out with that would rock for hardcore gamers I.E. multi-touch screens and whatnot. Considering 4 SLI cards is WAY overkill you are just going to max after 2 or 3 on FPS. By the time 4 gives you any kind of advantage SLI will be obsolete.

The funny is I always here how the cpu is a bottleneck to the gpu. So why would adding more help?
Now SLi (two gpu's) does help. I used to run two 8800GT's (not gts) and it really did help. I'm now a 280gtx owner and I dont see adding another card would help that much cause the power demand is a big trade off. Plus I cant even fit another vid card on my mobo cause of the massive heatsink. LOL

Screw sli and crossfire
(says the owner of a 20 inch monitor - no need for SLI or Crossfire)

I switched to an LG Flatron W2361VG (glossy) monitor and fucking LOVE IT! Glossy FTW!

I have a 20 inch LCD I use when I am just jumping on to look at something real fast. Most of the time I use my HD projector (Gaming, movies, AutoCAD, Solidworks etc)

I've been spoiled by my IPS LCD. I guess its small at 20 inch but I haven't seen anything worth replacing it with that's not insanely priced.

I put together an 8800GTX setup with sli when it was state of the art (remeber a year and a half ago paul:lol:) and I still havent come across an fps game that will slow it down even a little. Even with my first gen quad core and old school DDR2 memory...

The power trade was a big deal when I built my rig. I HAD to have a 1000w power supply. I had to get creative with cooling too because things got toasty quick.

I'm still using:
Q6600
EVGA 780i FTW mobo
Crucial Ballistic Tracers DDR2 1066 (2 gigs) These I found are actually faster than the "holy" Corsair Dominators.
Corsair 850 watt psu single rail
EVGA 280GTX w/ Thermalright heatsink
I get hiccups here and there but still plays strong.

Yea, I might have a chance to upgrade for a "small" price but I don't think I need it... I really should sell my Alienware M17X Area 51 and get something more suited to my use...:idk:

m17x special area 51 build. I just checked their website, with all the crap on it, it would cost about $4500 to buy it from Dell...
Wow, if that weren't completely, far and away, out of my price range for the comp im building, I would SOOOOOOOOO rock that card set!!
That with the i975 extreme processor, 16gb/ram, and 10krpm HDD, with a good motherboard, would make anb absolutely amazing gaming rig. But 4k+ for a tower is ridiculous.
im stuck with my 633mhz lappy :lmao:
