Is there a tire that you have lost confidence in and will no longer run? Why and which tire?

Dunlop 208's... fuck'n suck... hard as a rock, never warm up, slip and slide all over the damn road.

Nope. But I've not run very many different onces. Once I find one I stay with it, even if there might be another one out there that is better. I have to feel comfortable and confident in them. And with an odd front size, I'm limited.

I would have to say I probably won't run Dunlops because what ebbs wrote above, I've heard more than once.

I would say street tires in general, but I would need to amend that to be "street tires on a liter bike".

Since running "hybrid" street/track tires(002 & 003 bstones) I think I'd have a hard time trusting street tires for harder riding. BUT since converting to "full tard", I think it won't matter what tires I run because I'm riding a bike that weighs less than me.

They never seemed to warm up and actually stick, and the front had a weird profile so I ran it right to the edge without even trying. And they were miserable on tar and chip or bridge grating. Oh, and they have weird feedback... I've heard of people getting 12,000 miles out of a set, but mine lasted 7,000 and felt horrible the whole time. Played with tire pressure and was never satisfied. That was the original Road- not the Road 2. Turned me off Michelin though.

Pirelli all the way. Haven't found one I don't like. I'll try the Angel next time I need tires.

yeah the qualifiers I had weren't bad... but weren't on the same level as the Pilot Powers. the D606's I've got on the DRZ are nice... great grip and great wear.. for a knobby

So a Roadsmart sticks like glue, but a D208 doesn't?

When I went to CA Superbike school about 5 years ago, they ran D208s. I thought they were fine for what they were, but the track temps were in the upper 80s. I wouldn't run a B or higher track group on em though.

220, and I actually was so vain about my riding I weighed my gear - full gear I'm 243? if I recall correctly.

Motard weighs in around 230ish depending on the lights it has. Probably not more than a few lbs, but close call or not, I still weigh more :D

YES! Oh god I hated those tires. Talk about a tire that instills fear in the heart of the rider. Fuck. They turned me off of Dunlops forever.

to be honest I was the exact same... didn't give my qualifiers a fair shake... but they weren't bad... but it was night and day when I threw on the PP's though.

Dunlops DS tires seem to be very good. shit the knobbies stick pretty well... I was surprised... not enough to attempt to drag a knee... but enough to wring the DRZ out a bit.

Yeah, I went from the 208's to the Pilot Power. What a difference. The PP's felt awesome. I loved them. Then the Buell had Pirelli DCIII's on them when I bought it. They feel pretty good. I'm not sure if I will put another set of them on or go back to Pilot Power.

heard good things about the Corsa's... I've only ran the Strada's... but they were awesome. they gripped 10x as well as the 208's and they're a "sport touring" tire.

went from the qualifiers to the powers... huge difference... maybe all in my mind... but just felt more stable... and way more confident. only reason I'd think you'd ever run the qualifiers over the powers is wear... but that's giving up a lot IMO.

Ever ridden with oil on a tire?
I have and yes this POS is not much better then a oiled tire.....

But i gotta keep it till i do the EX500 swap and i can use decent brands

the 208's everyone is refering too... yeah, they sucked.

like the PP's, love the Corsa III's
Probably try Road 2's next for the wear, unless I can pull 7K out of the powers.

Dunlop 208's. I tried 2 sets, and crashed on both sets. I never felt like I could read the feedback from the tire properly. Both crashes were violent highsides. I know a few fast riders that liked them, but they never gelled for me. Dunlop definitely gets the award for greatest turn around though, because the 209/211 is the best tire I've ever used by a mile.

Same here, for street/intermediate track use I have heard great things about michelins and I hav ebeen using them for several years and hav ebeen very happy/confident with the powers and the roads.

I had an old d207 on my tls several years ago and hated it, never went back to dunslops. I may try bridgestones on the track bike this year so we will see.
