Stuffing, as long as it's not all soggy and runny, and as long as it contains chopped celery

stuffing and cranberry sauce, it's not T-giving w/o it. My mom's, but the wife's and my mother in law's are good too
As for the Dallas comment, going by that criteria and being a Detroit Lions fan the food always sucks on T-giving:lol:

For me it is the bread/rolls and noodles. Even though Grandma has passed, they are still my favorites. I just have to find someone that can make noodles like her. She taught me the rolls and I've been doing those for the last couple years before she passed. Never could master the other.

Cheesecake.
Oh, and beer (that comes after the cheesecake).
A nice turkey sandwich the following day with cold stuffing is actually my favorite part.

You have not gazed upon true perfection, if you have not witnessed the horrid audacity of my mother's most dangerous culinary achievement.
Flaming Spam Cherries Jubilee.
My mom can't cook. She never could, and she never will. She kicks ass at collecting recipes though. Why she decided to clip out FSCJ, is a mystery in my family. Some say she lost her mind. Others maintain that she had an affair with a traveling clove salesman. The truth is out there. Somewhere.
Flaming Spam Cherries Jubilee is a simple dish. You take a can of Spam, jiggle it out onto a plate, cover every millimeter of it with whole cloves, pour a can of cherry pie filling on top, and then soak it brandy and set it on fire.
The result is nothing less than spectacularly disappointing. I lost two teeth, and an eyebrow that night.
To this day, my mother denies all knowledge of ever having made this recipe.
She lies.

Cranberry sauce and stuffing. And green bean casserole. But no one in my family cooks thanksgiving dinner so I only have traditional dinners when someone invites me over.

I would invite you over, but my oldest brother will be here and he'll hit on you. I wouldn't want to put you through that.
I love my moms dressing and my candied yams. I never had grandparents really, so no big traditions passed down.

Trust me, I'll be so busy stuffing my face, I won't notice. But for future reference is he hot and rich?
I don't have any family to spend my thanksgiving with this year, so I'm driving to LA and having thanksgiving dinner at a diner.

If he was, I would have invited you over a long time ago honey!
No, this is my degenerate brother who has a hard time keeping a job, hair and teeth...he told me last week he has almost saved up enough to get partial dentures.
Man, now I feel bad for making fun of him....he tries hard for sure. He's just kinda dumb and missing a few teeth is all. :dthumb:

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday!
Turkey, mashed potatoes, baked corn, sweet potatoes, stuffing, pumpkin pie (with real pumpkin) green bean casserele.
Deviled eggs FTMFW!
Damn it, now I'm hungry and I have to wait another 32 hours...
Mom always makes it best but all 4 grandmothers do an excellent job as well.
MIL doesn't cook.

I disagree.
My mother makes the best sweet potato dish on the face of this earth. Once you've had it, everything else pales.
Definitely my favorite dish.

Why don't you drive to the airport and fly here. My Mom would be more than happy to have you in her home. Erik's sister and BIL are coming to her house along with everyone else under the sun.

My favorite food of the holiday is oyster filling
It's a simple to make dish consisting of OTC crackers, oysters, butter, milk and a bit of pepper and salt. But boy is it good.

I should start celebrating American as well as Canadian Thanksgiving....
My mother always makes this sweet potato casserole. A Southern treat we learned of in Tejas....
Y'all prolly know it. I make it now for peeps up here and they love it.
Sweet potatoes, butter, brown sugar (maple syrup), pecans and marshmallows.
It rocks!!!

CBRchick... when I lived in Texas I celebrated both, I would cook a turkey on Canadian Thanksgiving, which always coincided with a holiday ( columbus day?) and invite friends over. If I had a day off here I would cook a turkey for American turkey day.. any excuse for turkey sandwiches!

This/that/plusone/I agree
Stuffing that is cooked in a pan, in the oven, and NOT in the turkey = awesomeness.
Homemade pecan and pumpkin pie come in a close second.

Agreed on all accounts except the pecan pie.. I don't think I like that.
Stuffing that's crunchy on top from being thrown in the oven for a bit is damn good.

My mother in law made ground cherry pie. The ground cherries were picked right at the farm and the crust was homemade

I like it all. Sweet potato casserole - my sister-in-law made a great one this Thanksgiving. My mother-in-law makes great homemade stuffing. Father-in-law makes a mean turkey on the grill. I make some kick-ass mashed potatoes and homemade gravy.
