Supersport and Superstock suddenly get data aquisition permission... Worthless! they wont exist next year so who cares?!?!? Its like chimps pressing buttons -excluding the NASA chimp- they are able to press buttons but arent real sure why or what they do. makes no sense.

So what does this rule do? I mean if superstock and supersport were still gonna be around?

They're permitted to put sensors all over their bikes... ie: traction control. All classes were previously allowed to do so during practice, but only superbike during the races.

ahh... intresting... I almost wish they'd just say fuck the electronics and go back to 2 strokes... the times weren't as low... but they were more fun to watch! High sides guarenteed like 2-3 times a race!

who was the guy that had a horrible headshake, lifted the front end and the electronics kicked in and it got boring...

dunno- but i think Capirossi said something about all the electronics that the kids have these days. Saying that 50% of the guys in MotoGP wouldnt survive a season on the ole "man eaters" 500 2 strokers. Probably even if they just turned off the traction control. Rumormongering: i thought i saw somewhere that they may consider outlawing TC in MotoGP... doubt it but i did see it somewhere. I think guys like hayden, rossi, stoner, elias, vermulen, toseland and the such would be up front always.

technology tends to make racing more exciting and less exciting at the very same time...

what year did GP go to 1000cc from 5002strokes again?

Mr Lefty

04 I think...

and Rossi said in faster that riding the 500cc were more exciting...

KR jr won it in 2000 on a suz500

Rossi won it in 2001 on a Honda500

2002 they ran 2 strokes and 4 strokes and rossi walked away with it on the RC 211v.

2003 was 4 stroke only

all i know is that they didnt call the 500's "man eaters" because they were so rideable. huge props to anyone that could race one successfully. You were just a twitch away from being dumped on your head.

I always enjoyed watching Gary McCoy ride... smoke'n the shit out of the tires... then was it 05 when they went to 990?

02-06 was 990cc 4-strokes. 07-10 is/was/will be 800cc.

The 990's were exciting to watch too. Less injuries than the 500's, but you couldn't really control them, even with traction control, because they were putting down 260+ hp on a 2" contact patch. The 800's are putting out 200+ horsepower, but it's all at the top end, so traction control pretty much takes care of any possibility of high siding.

i got some past seasons from netflix or something and watched the 500's go round.... man those things would spit guys off out of nowhere. I should use the footage to show how newbies dont want the baddest bike out there. because here are the best pros getting bucked off for 'little' mistakes.
