Saw this topic somewhere else and thought we'd see what you got! Whats the best lie a motorcycle salesman ever told you....

We were at a dealer looking to get a friend a used bike. It was right after I sold mine last year, so I drifted over to the other side of the dealership where I was looking at an 06 636 sitting right next to an 07 zx-6r. A younger salesman drifted over to help me. I could tell he was trying to press the 07, which was much more expensive. He then proceded to tell me that they were the same bike, but the 07 had new fairings........:lol:

After that, i laughed and told him I was good.

I was looking at a zx10r and the dealer told me that it was a great bike to learn on if i took it easy. I also might have told him I didnt know how to ride

"We can't budge on the price of this"

Then I guess it's not for sale to people who aren't suckers! I hate vehicle sales reps.

We only have one left so you better get it fast, we won't get anymore in for a while. Go figure they had 5 more blue 250s a week later.

Oh and "you will get bored of the Ninja 250 in 2 weeks, you should start on this 636...its the perfect starter bike if you lower it 3 inches".

Go figure that guy rode a busa that had the license frame "live fast, die fast"

I'd bet (a lot of) money you can outride that guy now too Kathy! Lets see what he can do on a curvy road ;)

I thought you were gonna tell you that the bike was fast enough to ride on water. And you responded by walking on it.

I could tell some doozys from the other side of the coin.

Customers are even dumber than salesmen. :poke:

But no salesman should lie and they should know their product inside and out.

You people actually pay attention to what sales people say? :lol

When they approach me I always tell them I'm just looking and want to be left alone. If I'm there to buy, I already know what I want and I tell them what I want to pay. I dislike lies and games.

just a few weeks ago at an HD dealer first one: this price is so low I'm not allowed to take trade ins. (oh ok you can keep it)

second one: called a guy about a price they had on a sticker of a sporster -- I'm not letting it go that cheap!!! (i didn't write the sticker you did)
BTW he called back yesterday, "hey you still want that bike?" Yeah it's a little too cold for her to ride now, you can keep it.

"You'll get bored with the SV"
"The SV can't wheelie" (like I could care even if it couldn't)
"There's no difference between this GSXR 1000 and the SV650S except for the colors"

I intentionally shopped around for shops that would not BS me. I went in to a number of dealers and pretended to be a new rider and asked the difference between an SV on their floor and various I-4 sportbikes (CBR's, GSXR's, etc) also on their floors. In a lot of cases, I got "there is no difference, the SV is just a different color"

Um, no.

of course let's not forget that the average customer often goes to the salesman to get information about a model.

The multi-line Ducati dealer wouldn't reduce the price for cash-in-hand. He's out of business.

The Yammi/Zuk/Honda dealer here in town does the same thing. It's a wonder they are still in business. Fuck them. Of course they are now the only Yammi dealer in town now that Team Alpine went tits up.

Brampton Cycle. They had no concept of customer service. Bought my first bike there in '84 and never went back after a warranty issue.

Had this happen before too, found out it's kickbacks they get from finance companies and banks. I always just ask for the best price, and I'll sort out the payoff later.

And granted they may have deals for the sales reps to go such amount of sales financed for a bonus OR they'd rather just get the kickback from the financier's altogether even if they have short-sited math that they think works in their favor.(*IE- thinking their kickback will be more profit than a payoff cash sale)

My aunts ex-husband used to love them, bought more than a few toys from there. He said, for him at least, at the end, it just turned into a shithole.

First place I ever saw a duc in person. I was very young at the time, but fell in love right away.

Sales caught ya.

Service lost ya.

Oddly enough John McBride now operates a little performance/accessories shop called Riders Choice in south Mississauga, that is very well respected and does good work.
