I don't have any pics of outside yet - it's nothing like Trip's, that's for sure.

The tree will go up next week sometime. I'm in no hurry with two small children in the house. It will be fun to see who will knock the tree over first.

Or eat the ornaments.

Looks good, Ed. Yes - two trees. Eventually, the smaller one will go in the finished basement.

No decorations or trees up yet here. Might try to do the outside lights on the next nice day, if we get one. If not, then no outside lights.

Ya'll have some nice houses! Geez.

RacerX - love the VW sleigh.

Here are my crappy cell pics.

9ft tree in our 4 season sun room and a 7ft tree in the basement.

I went to take a pic of the outside light and noticed the 2nd floor roof line lights were out. The first string in the series blew a fuse and melted the fuse out of the connector. This weekend I will replace that string of lights and take a pic. Not sure what happened, I only have 4 strings in series on that section. Oh well.

What type of lights are they? Mini? Incandescent or LED? 3 is usually the max you want on 100 ct mini lights with incandesent bulbs.

If those are incandescents, 2 in series up to 60 bulbs is their typical limit. They draw a shit load of amperage. No wonder you melted the fuse.

you can run alot of LEDs like 25 strings worth........or some crazy high #

Each c9 is rated at 7W. So I have 100(4x25) bulbs, or 700W on a 110V supply. That's only 6.36Amps. It should easily be able to handle that.

Typical christmas light fuses are 5 amps unless you changed yours out. So yes, you would smoke it. For christmas lights, 5 amps is a lot. My minis run 1 amp with 3 strings together.

They are? I'll have to check that out. I haven't had any problems in years past and I have had the exact same setup the last 5 years.

LEDs dim terribly and the cost is too high for my needs. I buy incandescents at like .25-.50 a box after christmas in high quantities, you can't find a good deal on LEDs in the quantities I need after christmas. I wish they would reduce the brightness in them as well. When you get them in quantities I want to have in my display, you can't look at the display cause it's too bright.

I need to replace the entire string not just the fuse. The plug melted to a point that the string is useless.

Yeah it eventually blew the 20 amp circuit breaker.

I don't really know how old that specific string of lights are. At least 5 years for sure. I can't remember if I needed to buy more when I moved into this house so really they could be as old as 13 years old from when I bought my first house. I replace several bulbs a year, but the strings have held up well.

They were gifts. Any I wouldn't call them designer - he's the artist that does all of the humorous paintings with olives and grapes and whatnot.

Well when I came home from work, I noticed that the lights in the garage were out, (garage door openers are on there own circuit), so I went down and reset the breaker and went about my business not thinking about the lights. Then later on when I walked outside to take a pic of the lights, I noticed the entire row of lights were out. I climbed on the roof and quickly realized the source of the breaker tripping. Snow today and tomorrow and 31 degrees on Saturday means I wont fix the lights until Sun(36 degrees).

Can't post pics of trees until we get ours...

Going to go chop it down next weekend. Can't stand fake trees. Little ones yes. Main trees, no....

It's funny, even though I grew up in Texas, seeing Xmas lights on lawns with green grass seems strange.

So in the spirit of Xmas past, the tree from my parents house a few years ago (parents have old, old house)....We had 11 people, 2 cats, 2 dogs and one bathroom for Xmas....
