When you buy gifts for your parents (for instance Christmas) what do you get them?

They have everything. They buy what they need. :idk:

I'm lucky that my father rides so he's easy to shop for. My mother is a nightmare.

So this year I got them tickets to the Blue Collar Comedy tour with friends of theirs.

Parent s are tough to shop for, that's why my wife does ALL the shopping for gifts. I'm dead serious, the only person I buy a gift for is my wife. :lol Well I do have input on what my kids get, but the actual money transactions... my wife does that part.

THIS! (there, I used it)

My dad is easy. He likes to ride his bike (pedal). We get him stuff for the bike, or bike related stuff.

Mom. Well, she's a little more difficult. She like puzzles and electronic games. Can't go wrong with something sentimental either.

They are always impossible to shopt for. And I'm hesitant to give my dad anything of real value or it will end up in one of his yard sales.

For the in-laws - gift certificate for their favorite restaurant.

For each of my parents - a candy serving dish and some gourmet snack stuff. Useless, I know...but they have everything they want.

Mom has passed, so just a visit from us.

Now the old man, he is getting a track day with my son and I. He will be riding on the back of the 2 up bike. I will tell him when we get there...

Dad gets something train related as he is really getting into that hobby.
Mom usually gets something warm, sweatshirts, slippers etc as she is always cold.

This year they are also getting a pic drawn by a local artist of a photo we took before I left.

My parents are 1500 miles away, so they get a gift card to their favorite restaurant and a phone call.....

Dad (and step mom) get gift certificates to Lowes, Sears, or any restaurant they frequent. Otherwise they are somewhat ungrateful. I did get Dad a DVD player last year. I'm sure it has never been out of the box.

Mom got pots and pans last year. Not sure about this year. She is easy to buy for, yet hard. I know she will appreciate anything you give her. But I like to give her something she can use and she wants, the difficult part.

My mother wanted a gps. She's is technologically impaired and very old fashioned. It would have been a waste of money. I had to explain to her that the only place she really goes is an hour away from her house in a straight line. And coming to visit me 6 hours away is three turns onto different highways..

Now, I'm screwed for an idea, but didn't buy her something she would never use..

I love that everyone 'needs' a GPS when they never leave the city they were born in.

Mom has a new computer desk...

My mom and stepdad are impossible to buy for. They have everything and say they want nothing. I've just spent the last hour trying to find a CD online that I know my mom wanted, and no doubt forgot she wanted. I can only find it on one site, and its an import and they want $45.00 US for it, plus shipping from Greece. WTF?? Its not that 45 is a lot of money, but it is for a CD!!!

Now I'm thinking I'll just get them, and my dad, an "Edible Arrangements" fruit/chocolate thing. :idk:

I hate buying useless gifts/wasting money and time, so I try to find out what they want. This year Dad wants a heart rate monitor (hard core bicyclist, technologically somewhat impaired, so it cant be too complicated), check, got it already, thank you Amazon!

Mom (yet another Amazon thank you) wanted only a magnifying lamp. She swears she's not getting older and refuses to get real glasses, but a giant lamp is ok??!!

In laws...MIL is a picture nut, got a KILLER deal on a 15inch digital Picture frame, already loaded some photos for her.

FIL - A Gold Winger, got him some trip reading material, and a Battery Bug.

Still working on something else for mom, the sisters and stocking stuffers!

I usually buy my mom something Eiffel Tower...socks, art, plates, etc. This year I bought here a necklace from Etsy.com Great site if you have not seen it before.

Dad and stepmom for the last couple years we (sister and I) have gotten them a room at a hotel near our house (and the house we gather for Christmas) so they can come to all the get togethers. :beers:

Considering the awful time we have had moving cows at the farm lately I think Dad needs a cattle prod..lol..

Actually have no clue what the heck to give them, it's driving me nuts.

Bought the inlaws each gift cards.

If the REI website will ever come back up we are buying my dad a hiking external frame back pack.

My mom....she told me she wanted a scarf and gloves.

We are trying not to spend too much for my parents because I don't want them to feel like they have to by us much stuff. (I hate Christmas)

Thought about getting my parents a 32" LCD TV this year but I knew I should run it by them first for something like that. They dont even seem to want it right now so I've dropped that idea. So far I've got them a $50 gift card and a new Cell Phone. Not sure what else...
