What aftermarket seat do you have on your bike. How comfortable is it compared to other brands/styles?

RusseLl day long or a Mayer. Go custom if you are going to spend the money.

On our previous bikes, I had Corbin, and Chris had Sargent. They were both very different, but good in their own ways. The Sargent was very thickly padded - very soft. For me, it made his bike a little too high and wide for me, but he's taller than I am, so he loved it. My Corbin, on the other hand, was very firm and molded, and the longer I had it, the more it shaped to my butt (kinda like a pair of comfy jeans), so it fit me great.

From my understanding, Sargent can custom tailor a seat to your height, weight and needs.

I completely agree. My Rich’s seat did not cost me that much more then the Sargent I was looking at.

i had a corbin on the rc and it was ok, but it was harder then the stock one, my recommendation is put some sort of gel pad down on the seat so it can be removed when twisties are ahead, i had a hard time hanging off of the touring seat to justifiy having it, then again, i am known for knee draggin' a fully loaded rc with tail, saddle and tank bags

I will probably pick up a Suzuki gel seat this winter.
Some say it is better than the Corbin or Seargant for half to a quarter of the price.

BTW, it wasn't tigger.

Yeah, and you don't use your bike to "tour":nee:

True, but when I first bought it I would go on some much longer rides and was fine. I also wouldn't bat an eye at keeping that seat for "touring". It just works for me.

I do. :) The 58,800 miles on the Busa will attest to that.

I use the stock seat. I will on occasion use a pair of padded bicycle shorts. That helps eliminate the hotspots.

I can do 1000 mile days all day long with or without the padded shorts. Granted, the stock seat on the Busa isn't too bad. Maybe some of you are just pansies. LOL

Corbin. 15-16 hours of riding is nothing for me. Still smiling at the end of the day.

A Busa is much more akin to touring than an R1...I could see where the stock R1 seat might not be sufficient for touring purposes and a stock Busa seat might.

Keep in mind my R1 is a 2000 and is less race-replica than 03-04+ sport bikes.

Custom: Bill Mayer Saddle

The original Bill Mayer is now Russell Day Long. They hold the patent for what Bill designed, so the new Bill Mayer run by his son is not the same.

I have a Corbin on the Victory. Good seat but not a touring seat.
My Wife had a Jeff Phips Custom on her Victory (Huge Money) not significantly better than the Corbin.
Went to a Sergeant <sp> on the 999 better than the plastic wrapped plywood it came with bit by no mean comfortable
O5 Busa has an incredibly comfortable stock seat (never have done more than 500 miles in a day on it.)
06 Goldwing Stock seat with show chrome back rest ( this really makes long hauls easier)
I have a gel layover I have used as well for longer hauls (saddleman I think)

I have a two piece Sargant seat on my vfr. Its comfortable. The think the shape/size makes it more comfortable than the cushion. A lot better than a banana seat.
