I am thinking about seeing if we can get a tv for christmas. Dont need anything too big since we will use it in the entertainment room and prolly mount it high on the wall above or near the bar we will have. I have the large screen in the family room but this will be for if people are in the othe rroom they can still watch the game, race or whatevers on.

I would guess a 32 inch screen would me more than adequate since the room is like 12x12.

I bought the Vizio 32". It's crazy bright which I needed cuz my room gets a ton of light in it. It was also cheap at ~500 bux. The speakers are absolutely terrible, make sure you're hooking it up to something else for sound.

I have a 42" Vizio liquid crystal LCD (60hz) that has great picture. My PC monitor is an LG glossy and I LOVE it.

Now days even the cheapy HD's give good pictures. It's more up to your signal that determines the quality, be it you cable company, movie player, etc.

If its just for drinking guests, who cares about the quality?

I heard that if you get wasted and throw up on your HD tv, that the alchy nomes will clean it up for you when you pass out.

Or tigger will throw it away cause your tv is now stupid.

This. If you buy the "best" someone will decide that you spent too much money and you're a douche. If you don't spend enough, someone will decide that you're cheap and /or bought junk. It's a no win situation.

FWIW I would still buy a "quality" piece for all of the reasons previously stated. I'm now using my "old" 32'' for a computer monitor for my GF. If I had purchased a "lower grade" TV, this wouldn't be feasible.

We use the "Universal" remote.

Before that we had the clapper, but that turned out to be a bad choice...
