Is there any major difference, besides the obvious, between the "old" PS3 and the new 120G PS3? Processor speed, anything? Thanks.

theres no emotion engine or gpu chip on the new boards. You wont be able to play any of your old ps2 games. Also they went to a smaller nm process on the newer chips. Ought to be cooler running and more reliable. (Not that we needed it) if you really needed the space id just swap harddrives. Its easy, pretty cheap, and wont void your warrantee. You could even serve your elitist top of the line needs by swapping in a solid state drive. Big money though

Well, I think that the new PS3 looks a lot better than the old unit so I was looking for an excuse....besides, I'm considering some sort of streaming device in the bedroom...probably a Samsung Blu Ray that streams Netflix and is WiFi... of course for that money, I can almost buy a new PS3 and put the old one in the bedroom

I guess I could just plug the Alienware into the bedroom tv when I want to watch streaming or blu ray...

Yea but the PS3 is in the living room... I have my old Dell 1721 but it only has a S-Video out... Dang, I don't know... btw have you played with a PSP Go yet? Kinda cool, works great as a Skype phone too. Download only is a small negative in a way.

You know, this thread was going to be proof that tigger was going to break his PS3 to get a new PS3. Dave you fucked up an opportunity to see this happen. Good job....

would have been futile anyway. Sony only sends you what you sent em. Broke your 20 gig? You're getting another one. No free slims. Microsoft would probably do te same if their console lived long enough for someone to get the idea

I love the old over the new. The new one looks as cheap as the 360 now. You lose style and some functions. Stuff you can live without but come on. Touch sensitive buttons are the cat's meow.

Maybe if it was $200 cheaper I'd buy one for the size. Throw it in a backpack/tailbag for trip use.

The old one looks way better. The new ones are not backwards compatible, are down on USB ports (I think) and you cant install another OS on them.
