Do you use actual words?

shmike
12-16-2009, 10:54 AM
Yes.

My phone defaults to word recognition.

It is easier to use the actual word than to disable and then hunt for the individual letters.

I'm not a big text-er.

Tmall

I do not do txt/leet speak. Ever. Most of my posts, including this one are from my phone.

The only thing, I'm a little more tolerant of typos.

Texting is gay.

If you want to talk to me, call me or piss off.

I rarely text but BBM my ass off on most days.

I don't even use short forms; I type very much like I speak and spell everything out.

Me too, but I'm starting to get lazy.

I'm always BBM'ing Gas Man...and he's a terrible typing texting fool. Always using shorthand types of words. I'm falling into his trap.

It's different because it's not texting.

I don't know, it's just different.

But yes it's only between Blackberry's and it's free.

Yeah, only between Blackberries. It's not a text, more of a thread. Like Instant Messenger.

And like Kell said, it's free.

OK, just checking. I thought it was an age thing - though, I won't even acknowledge a text from my daughters unless it's actual words.

I just got a text - and I want her to buy a vowel, or five. She's 30, and I don't even know how her phone would let her do this to someone....

I never abbreviate, of course I don't send many texts with words but I do send picture texts a lot. A pic is worth 1000 words so I can just shut the fuck up, just like everyone else should do.

Agreed!! I rarely respond to a text unless it gets me out of talking to the ex. Then it's useful.

Since I am not 13 I also use real words. Those half words are ruining kids grammar!!

BBM counts as txting.. You're sending txt over your phone. Email, txt, messenger,yahoo.. They're all essentially txting..

Me too. Only time I'll possibly abbreviate is when I do actually send a text and not a bbm. I'm limited to characters (which seems to be smaller than on my phone phone) so sometimes you becomes u. That's it.

Okay, this isn't a text, an email. This was sent to a co-worker A from co-worker B. A is out of the office and I have to monitor her emails while she is out. Let's not even get into the subject that B knew A was not here today....I have not made any changes to this, it's ben copied and pasted. Can you make sense of it?

Did I just sound rude to wanda bout her lotion, I sneeze everytime she puts it on and I told her I think I am allergic to it and she said she has been wearing it ever since she got over here and I told her I have been sneezing since I started sitting over here and she just looked at me and turned her head

i use words cause of the blackberries word recognition, but sometimes that makes things worse. LOL

I try not to txt.

Txt's do have a letter limit, so I can see why some people do abbreviate stuff if they have a long txt they need to send.

Speaking of that my dad and I had a good laugh yesterday. He has an MP3 player and never could figure out how to work it. So on a visit last summer his 12 year old granddaughter wrote out directions so he could download music to it. He told me last night that he lost the directions and has just given up and is listening to the same music over and over.

I have typed out numerous sets of directions for my parents from everything to getting pictures off their digital cameras to putting music on their ipods. I've even shown them where the directions are saved on the computer. All to no avail. :td::skep:

Mostly real words here - I do use abbreviations like appt or FTMFW.. but it's not every other word. The thing I'm most guilty of is the "..."

I do that all the damn time... text, forums, email, etc. The only place I can avoid it is work-email.

I text and send Blackberry messages a lot. I almost always type the full words out. I have used BB for Blackberry or BBM for Blackberry messenger. I also use lol every now and then. Yes there is a limit on most phones for texting but that doesn't stop me. My phones used to send more then one text if the message was too long. It has sent 3 for me many times for one message.

Words. I've got a Rzr (Motorola) but I refuse to "save time" by abbreviating. It just doesn't seem polite. If something is important enough to text on my phone then I'll take the extra minute. It kind of sucks when I'm driving though...

j/k I don't text and drive...

Yeah. I know what you're thinking.

Then you wake up with no ankles, and fish food on your breath.

At this point, giant lizards are the best case scenario.
