Ugh, I hate this. A buddy of mine called me this past weekend and said several people are going to Vegas this coming Friday, May 2nd and coming back Sunday May 4th. Flights are $220 round trip and hotel room is free.

I'm debating because of debt. I have my budget forecasted for the next 6 months and I'll be able to pay off one of my credit cards with about $1400 left over by October 1st. Experience has taught me that I rarely stick exactly to my budget and I always find something to spend money on, as much as I try not to. If I go to Vegas, I'll probably take a grand. If I lose it, I'm obviously less likely to have enough to pay off that debt and that much farther away from a bike. If I win, it's not a problem, but scared money doesn't play very well...

I have nearly everyone I know saying, take the weekend and go. I'm already approved for Sunday night off work so I can easily go if I want...

Damn, I hate these decisions between fun and responsibility. What do you guys think?

pay off the debt... it feels great. I gave up my spending habit (shopping) so I could save money to pay off the credit cards and improve my credit....... It's very tough, but the ending.... is well. credit that would better to get those nicer things....

wow. both sides of the fence.

I love splurging... but c'mon, you've got your goal to pay off the credit. This time, I'd say skip the trip and get that CC paid down. Cause seriously "oh i'll take 1k to play" yeah, but food, drinks (if you're out and not at the casino) strip clubs.... yeah. 1k no way... you're looking at more.

i guess it depends on the discipline involved...you appear to always make the responsible choices...so if you dont typically do this kinda thing I say go for it...having spent all my life making the "responsible" choice so others could do what they wanted, well, I have reached the point that I look at things individually as they come along and if its something I feel its worth splurging on, I go for it...like track days and Indy...cuz I dont know bout you peeps...but skydiving while im up there is calling my name... , I also realize that while I may get my cards paid off, debt seems to forever be in the future...like death and taxes...

My credit score is in the mid 700's. The only reason I want to pay this one off in Oct is it goes from 0% to 10%. I have enough saved up to pay it now, but was wanting to pay it off without taking anything extra out of savings at that time...

Nah, I've been to Vegas MANY times. I'm only going to be out there for 2 days. 1K will be plenty for my style of play and entertainment. Hell, it was more than enough for a 4 day trip, so I can't see why it won't be for a 2 day trip.

I swear I will go skydiving with you if you go!! I've been wanting to for SO long, but haven't done it yet.

Well, I tried booking the flights, but the Southwest site kept saying "we can't price this flight at this time." I called and they said they were updating it and you needed 14 days advance notice to get that price. :wtf: 14 days?? I can understand if you're updating the site, but if I need 14 days notice, then you might want to update the site a bit earlier. Shit, those prices were just there today, 4 days from the date I would leave, and you tell me I need 14 days notice?? I guess my decision is made.

thats bullshit...I would call the website and let them have it since it was posted up today...but yeah, i guess that does settle it, oh well, closer to the bike and debt free!!

I just heard on the radio tonight that they are revamping their rates now... Beware.... Also they are going to add extra charges for each bag now too. You are only allowed one suitcase or bag... Any other baggage will be an addition $25...

I did. They said too bad, I couldn't get that fare. I told them they could either sell me the seat at the lower rate, or not sell it at all. They chose not to sell it. Oh well.

capn. im sick of all your "im so responsable, heres a great opportunity that im not going to take" threads. you need to splurge, and this is an easy one!

go to vegas, have a blast, and sell some shit on ebay when you get back to make up for it. who knows maybe you'll come out on top.

capt... does it say anywhere on the ad that it's for 14 days out only? if not... print the page... call them again and threaten to contact the BBB

 Not with air fare being what it is now.

I would, but they've already updated the page. No way to prove what price was there...

Oh well, it's not that big a deal. If I want to gamble, I can drive a couple hours south of here. It's not Vegas, but it's still fun.
