Oh, and there was one incident where my husband had an Edwards-style save. These pictures are RIGHT before, and actually show him hitting parts. He pushed off with his knee... then ran wide on the turn. My sis got it on video, just waiting for them to FTP it to me.

OMFG, that is a great caption. Fucking hilarious. Well, at least to those of us with an immature mind.

Is it just me or does your husband not get off the bike very much?

Not usually. He likes to know where the ground is... and use it only when he needs to. But, doesn't tuck at all. It's unnerving as hell when riding behind him as he will suck you into corners if you judge *speed* by body position. He's done it to me a few times.

I've heard people go on and on about "proper" body position - then I ride with him and he proves them all wrong.... he's fast as hell and doesn't *need* to do it.

That's a bit scary. He's going to run out of tire a lot faster than someone who moves his body around.

I'm curious to know what his times are, but since I'm on the west side of the country, I wouldn't have anything to compare them to anyway.

Somewhat related: my wife has her bike now, and is anxiously learning to ride in anticipation of her first track day, probably somewhere around September.

(FYI, not criticizing your hubby, just curious)

I have a somewhat similar problem, I do not tuck at all either. I get my fat ass off the bike, but I don't tuck. I have read somewhere that you are actually somewhat better off if you are upright, because your center of gravity is actually higher, which will give you inherent stability. For us mere mortals the increase in speed in a corner that can be gained from tucking is unimportant. Some of my pics for reference:

My outside knee and elbow are against the tank, inside is planted:

In this one you can kinda see the line straight back from the gas cap hits me right at about mid-thigh:

In both pics I'm sitting upright, and your right, it's deceiving! Check out the clearance on the case cover/shifter in the first pic.
