looks like you guys got it worse than us, last I heard was about 10-12 inches of snow over at kennedy airport. Its supposed to be worse on eastern LI so I will see how bad it is when I leave the hospital, thats provided I can leave in the morning.

Must be nice getting snow with no wind...
Whenever we get snow, there's usually 30mph winds with it, so we don't get the nice piles like that, we get drifts that end up rock hard.

Avatard, wade out there with a yard stick and see how much snow that is.
And that's a really cool pic.
looks like you got a bit more than me  then again i'd expect it since you are much closer to the water. still, we had problems getting the doors open this morning

God Damn, this global warming sucks.
I actually miss snow (not that much) because I grew up south of D.C. I hope when I head to Chicago in a week that there is snow because our Georgia snow sucks donkey balls. We get enough to cover the ground but as soon as you try to sled or even tube on it you are trying to sled on wet grass.

Learned 3 things today
1) It would have been so much easier had I known such a big storm was coming, had I gotten the snow blower out of the remote garage, and brought it to the attached garage.
2) That bottle of Sta-Bil does nothing if it just sits on the shelf - pour it into the fucking snow blower's tank.
3) The carb on a Snow-King is a fucking pain in the ass to get to, and now I need to clean it the fuck out.
I'm snowed in until I feel like tearing into a Tecumseh carb, and cleaning it out.
Fuck my life.

Yeah, we got two feet even, it looks like.
Finally got the damn snow blower running. Fuck me.
A full can of starting fluid, half a can of carb cleaner, a can of sea foam, a full carb repop, and half the damn day later, and I finally got the fucking snow blower lit.
My neighbors must love me. Nothing sounds better at midnight than an 8HP Tecumseh spitting violently in protest to coming alive.
I'll wait until tomorrow to tackle the snow, dig my ass out.
I smell like a fucking petroleum refinery.

HAHAHAHA. No. I have a VERY large driveway, with a circle drive addition, and a slip large enough to park a bus (the previous owner had one).
Shovel? You're funny.

It has electric start. The Sea Foam alone wasn't cutting it. I had to take the carb apart. The shit that came out of it looked like the shit that comes out of a bong when you clean it. Yuk.
Works now, though.

HaHa you're lazy.
Grew up on a farm. When the tractor wouldn't start, guess what MY ass shoveled.
-1/4 mile driveway
-area from barn to house (about 30 yds)
Usually took about 4-6 hours, depending on how much snow there was. And that was just a path enough to get the car out.
Yes I own a snowblower now. But unless the snow is over a foot deep, or really hard, I can shovel faster.

I'm really proud of you, that's very nice.
Grew up in the 'burbs, but I used to work in the winter shoveling show with friends for money when I was a kid. We always kicked ass, and came home with at least $300 each in our pockets.
I know which end of a shovel to hold.

I own a snowblower too, and it's at least two feet of snow I'm looking at.
I know that might make me lazy...but it's a few ton of snow, and I figured I might point this machine at it.

I live in Canada and have never owned a snowblower(and have had laneways as large as you describe).
