ok was it just me or was he just creepy and weird. I mean that is not at all what you want to see at New Years. It's supposed to be fun and happy and watching him try to talk after his stroke is really very sad.

I get it! he's a legend but really? folks? let it F'ing go already......

and Yes I AM a cold hearted Bitch...what's your point?

:idk: Maybe it will cause a lightbulb to go off in a few young people's heads, that showing respect to someone who has given so much, is more important than giving the microphone to the latest bimbo/heartthrob.

I understand he's a legend but Cheese-and-Rice it's time to let it go. I want to remember him as he was in his prime, not be sad for what he is now.

and watching tonight was depressing....I changed the channel until the ball dropped. New Year's is to be FUN and a celebration.

You all can disagree all you want but that's my opinion

As a kid I used to love to stay up to watch this but tonight was the worse one I've ever seen.

Prety much, but I also figured they will never have tom araya and kerry king on so I just deal with the nonsense. They had a bunch of people I never heard of. When I asked others wer elike yo unever heard of so and so and after watching it I am glad I didnt know who they were.

I didn't see Secrest, Dick Clark, or Pastrana. I saw the inside of my eye lids at midnight.

I did catch Pastrana's jump this morning on the news highlights. Pretty sweet.

I'm not really sure how he has "given so much". He has done his job and become rich doing it. Just because he has been doing it for a long time doesn't qualify his doing it as philanthropy.

i agree with the original post. almost makes not as fun to watch knowing you have to watch him suffer through speech so hard.

that said i did not watch this year, because last year was the same way.

Yeah, same here. Everyone keeps talking about how they can't possibly let him do it again next year after how aweful this year was. IT WAS WORSE IN 2009!! He was at least a second behind each number in the countdown last year. :(

Hopefully they will get enough flack for how sad it is this year and will ask him to retire. I don't know who they would get to replace him, but it's just sad.

Animatronics! Call Disney, and work out a deal!

He talks like a retard but he looks great for his age. ABC never should have let him host after his stroke. He must still get the ratings or they wouldn't have him on.

They don't have to call anyone. Disney owns abc.

Or they are worried about pissing him off and offending the people who think he is an "institution".

Probably more to that than ratings. It's probably a sign of respect to him.

They were talking about this on the radio this morning pretty much saying exactly what we all are - it's sad, he needs to stop. However, they said they can't make him quit, that he actually owns the rights to the show. It is after all, Dick Clark's New Year Eve countdown. So to force him out they would have to buy out his show and my guess is there are contracts with the show and they haven't expired yet.

Hope not this year. I was just getting off of the subway in Atlanta heading to the car.

I had been to the Georgia Dome to watch the Chick fil a Bowl and then hanging out in downtown Atlanta and just getting back to the Buckhead area but at the stroke of midnight...it was walking to the car and not banging...until later.
