Haha. I was in Chicago for business and met up with my cousin who lives up there. We went out to eat and our waitress was a smokin hot little number from the Ukraine. She had a HUGE rock on her hand. I asked her what brought her to the US and her response was, "um, life circumstances." She walked away and my cousin and I looked at each other and both said, "mail order bride." There are still countries where raising a family is more important to women than breaking the glass ceiling at some Fortune 500. I personally think true happiness for women lies in a fair compromise somewhere in-between, but I can understand both sides.

While busy doing that nothing they expect a guy to make a bunch of money, look like Brad Pitt, take them out all the time (doing nothing gets monotonous), make significant contributions to "managing the home", and generally revolve his life around keeping that woman in the "lifestyle to which she is accustomed". It isn't something I would ever do, but I can understand why it would be an attractive option for some guys.

There are some of these, the guys I know that have done it have had kids with their "wives." The one guy that keeps magazines for them at his desk came out of a pretty brutal divorce with an American wife that he always complained about not getting any and now seems plenty happy and has 2 kids with his new wife. He does send a pretty good size check each month to South America though. He supports her family.

I would suspect it's far cheaper, in the end...and I dare say, the house would be cleaner, the companionship more loyal, and the sex would likely be better (although I have no firsthand experience, just assuming a professional might be more skilled).

You were describing American women and what they want. American women are as diverse as American men. There are some like you described but a lot more that are nothing like what you described. Just as all American men do not support their women or take care of them as they should, thus they aren't wanted.

Of course everyone is different. From my personal experience there are a lot (not all, and not a majority) of women out there that fit my description. I have seen it prevent or ruin more relationships than the Type A personality situation described by Avatard.

I remember watching something on this Biography channel about this a year or two ago. From what I can remember it is a lot different than it used to be back in the day. Most people have a stereotypical view of the Russian mail order bride but from what I can remember most of these women are pretty picky today. It costs a lot of money to bring a 'wife' over and since conditions in Russia have gotten a lot better in the last couple decades the women want to be sure it will damn well be worth it so you better have a great job and lots of money in the bank. I don't know anyone who has done this but this is what I took away from that show.

I asked her what her plans were and her response was 'try acting for a year or two then be a stay at home mom' and I wanted to punch her for wasting all that money on college. She got her wish though because she just got engaged to Tom Watson's (the pro golfer) son.
