Your Music Collection

I was sorting my music collection the other day and was curious how many songs I have stored, so I did the dreaded right click and listened to my hard drive crunch and grind for a few minutes while it counted all the files: 29,321.

Just curious how many songs some of you others have. And what are your favorite bands/tracks at the moment?

About 120+gb on the computer and another 100cds.

I only know which is which, because one of them, everyone stands up for.

i have around 15 gigs all together. Ive lost some stuff recently though due to failing harddrives and equipment theft. Luckily i have a couple of backups of 90% of the collection. Perennial favorites include billy joel, stray cats, and maximum the hormone

Not sure how many songs but I can tell you it's not very many. 99.99% of the music is complete shit, buble gum pop, country, hip hop, all of it crap. I listen to Black Metal, Death Metal, Thrash Metal, Metalcore, Groove Metal, Melodic Death Metal, Nu Metal, Math Metal, Horror Metal.... You get the point. Devil horns in the air! :rockout:

I've got way more cd's than I do files on my comp. I still buy cd's too.

My favorites right now are DevilDriver's newest "Pray for Villans", The always awesome In Flames "Clayman" and I've been into old school Warzone a lot lately.

Do you still have records, tapes, cds or only computer files now?Some of everything, but it's been a couple years since I've bought music on a physical medium now. I don't know why I still have the records though, got rid of my last record player about 15 years ago. Would be fun to hear the old vinyl Iron Maiden again. :D

You guys download full albums and catalogues don't ya? I still hunt for a song I like, and then that goes in my folder. One at a time. I don't think I'm old enough to have downloaded 64k of em that way..

Why people have music on their computer or iPod they don't like, I don't understand. That's why I have a playlist, so I don't have to listen to tracks I don't like.

I have had a couple instances where the wife's music will find her way onto my iPod. Nothing will ruin a hot-paced ride through the mountains like unstoppable, unskippable, can't turn down the volume Show Tunes or Bubble Gum pop music blasting in your helmet.

thats how i do it. Its a rare event that i grab someone's discography. In fact i think the only ones are animetal, fire bomber, and mth.

I have maybe 3000 songs total. I do it the same way Tmall mentioned for the most part. Unless it's a band I really like and I know I love every song on the album. Then I'll grab the whole thing.

You guys are missing out on a lot of good stuff! If you like one song by a band, why not check out their others? Songs played on the radio are typically the singles with "broader appeal", so you might find tracks you like even better if you check out their whole album.

It's not that I haven't heard them. I usually just don't download a song unless I really like it. Or if I do download a bunch by a band I've found I like, I usually only really like one or two.

I'm definitely not a listen to mediocre music kind of person, it has to be awesome!

Half the time I just hop on youtube, then I know I'm listening to/downloading the right song..
