I'm leaving for Taipei Sunday and will be there for 4 days. Anybody here ever been that can offer some things to do and see there?

Taipei has those as well? I never knew that. You sure you aren't thinking of the Petronas Towers in KL?

No, Taipei doesn't, only KL that I know of. Taipei has a big tower (Taipei 101) but that's all I know of there as far as sky scrapers.

Yeah I got the Taipet 101 and Petronas Towers confused. I knew it had a huge structure though.

About to board now. Roughly 19.5 hours flight time plus 3 hours in layovers in DC and Tokyo. It's shaping up to be a long day!

:)Turns out Taipei is a pretty big city with about 2.5M residents, so it's on the scale of Chicago. There's an absolutely insane number of restaurants and shops lining most of the streets here. Today one of the guys took me to a noodle soup restaurant rated #2 last year in the annual "noodle soup cook-off" here in Taipei. Great flavor, super spicy! If I were here longer I might return, but with such a short trip I hate to do repeats.

Visited Taipei 101 today which has an outdoor deck on the 89th floor, so that made it a little different than visiting the Sears Tower or Hancock building when I lived in Chicago. From up there you can see the mountains that break up the skyline across Taipei which I thought was unique. Not too many big cities built right on mountain chains.

Tomorrow I'm going to try getting down to Shihlin Nightmarket, basically a big outdoor food and flea market atmosphere. And, weather permitting, I want to visit at least one museum and/or temple before I leave Friday morning.

I knew very little about Taiwan before coming here, but having visited for a few minutes, I'm really liking it. It shares a lot of similarities with Beijing, but thankfully the air quality is much better (comparable to any city in the US, but better than L.A.).

Here are a few pictures from the trip that I figured would appeal to the masses here. Quite a few MotoGP fans around there!

Every single road was filled with scooters parked like this. Unreal how many there are. And each intersection has a huge box blocked off for mopeds only, so when the light turns green you hear 40-50 scooters all ham fisting it at the same time. Pretty entertaining watching them all weave through traffic and one another (saw a lot of 50cc, 125cc, 250cc, and a few 450cc).

I actually like the second one.

The first is so wrong I don't know where to begin:

Is it a 4-wheeled wannabe trike?

I love the Yamaha paint job and the Honda decal.

Either that pocket bike is the size of a matchbox car or Rossi is unusually large for someone 'starting out'.

Last night, I was just kickin it watchin some tv when my friend texted me at 1:30. Bars had just closed. Party at his house. Always a good idea, right? I played catch up with jack and coke and ended up waking up sitting up on his couch at 7:30 this morning. Drove 6 blocks home, fell back asleep till noon. I love having fridays off.
