My least favorite time of the year is upon us...parent teacher conference time. :td:

I am so over stressed right now. :willy:

I have so much paperwork to do...I am a little less than organized this year.

All I want to do right now it a little of this...:bash::bash::bash: and a lot of this...:beer::beer:

I decided to take some of my stuff home to work on and I am getting bored and annoyed so I need a little vent session! I am done...for now...

not to discount what you do... but what goes into a pre-school parent teacher confrence?

We have goals that are set up with the parents at the beginning of the year that we go over again.
I have to make a portfolio that documents where they were at the beginning of the year and where they are now.
I have pages that go in the portfolio that talk about milestones the kids are hitting.

From age 3 to age 4 kids grow SO much it is crazy! I have a few kids that are writing their names, I have some that are starting the year just scribbling and are now drawing actual figures. Plus my kids ALL know how to spell their name (verbally) which is awesome. Large motor development from Sept to now - most of my kids can ride a two wheel scooter now that could not a few months ago. Fine motor development - almost all of my kids can cut out shapes drawn on a paper which is very new for most of them. They can all recognize their own name.

Plus we go over social skills. The biggest part of preschool is learning social skills. At the beginning of the year a lot of the kids did more parallel play (playing next to versus with another child) but now they play these games that are so complex compared to where they were.

We assess where they are and where they are going. It helps the parents see where their kid need support. And also if the parent had any concerns we go over them again and assess where the child is.

Some of the parents alone, aside from all the paperwork, stress me out. I have never worked at a school where the parents stress me out this much! :willy:

This stuff probably does not excite those of you that have never had or taught a kid but each one of those things are huge. :dthumb:

ya know I never really thought about it... but yeah there is a huge amount of growth in those years... and you probably spend more time around the kids now a days than a lot of parents do (fucking sad IMO)

cool... good luck!

I gotta admit, me too. Setting myself on fire and running around in circles might be perferable to dealing with ankle biters for any length of time...I'm just not cut out to do that kinda thing...I admire your strength Mrs. Colleen!!

Well if it makes you feel any better Mrs. Colleen.....as a parent of 4 little monsters myself, I dread parent/teacher confrences....especially with my oldest 2 boys.http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o154/Warputer/blowup.gif
