I could google this, but I won't.

What is the point of having an X-box 360 with a 120 GB hard drive? Why would I want that instead of the cheaper "Arcade Console?" Is it mostly for online playing, or what? Hell, my laptop doesn't even have a 120 GB hard drive.

you can download full games through the internet and need a hard drive to do that.

does the arcade edition even have a hard drive?

you need a hard drive to save games.

Funny you should say that... I have a 120gb PS3, and lately i've been thinking, 'damn, I might have to replace it with the 350GB, or buy an external HD for media.'

What im saying is, these things arent just game systems anymore. They have Operating Systems and User Interfaces, they surf the web, store music/pictures/video. Chat programs. Downloadable games. Demo's. Netflix.

I downloaded 24GB of data in December, on the PS3 alone.

And to put things in perspective, I too have never needed 120gb's on a pc! Not even close. I have 110 of 160gb free on this one.

All that means is that you store all your downloads on a PC isntead of a gaming system like Apoc does.

I have a 120GB xbox as well. That's not part of my 5TB

Thats exactly what I was talking about... I was looking at a 350gb HDD. I know its very easy. What speed of drive did you go with?

You need a HDD on a PS3 cause it installs parts of the game onto it.

I have a 360 elite with the 120gb and hardly put anything on it. Bought it two years ago. I don't carry it around like a purse like a bunch of people do so I dont have movies/music on it.

The backwards compatibility does not exist. I havent found a xbox1 game that'll work on my elite. Just keeps saying you need to download an update. Where's the fuck is the update?

5400rpm. You can go 7200rpm but they use more power and run hotter.

I use the HDD on my ps3 for far more than game installs.... I also have friends with multiple x-box HDD's, since they are so easy to switch out.

sure, if you dont horde content, your fine. But I download a lot.^

jUST saying, you dont need a massive HDD, but modern consoles do benefit from them.

i watch lots of anime and oddball movies that would be insanely difficult to track down legally add that to music, backgrounds, demos and the wsbk and bsb seasons and its nice to have hot swappable spaces

Which xbox should I buy? Are there any differences?

After almost 4 years, I can tell mine isn't as good as it used to be. Freezes on me, tells me disks are unreadable..

Think I'm just going to buy another before it finally dies.

I think they are all the same aside from the elite being black with a 120gb HDD.

I recall hearing about "jasper" chipsets that reduce the RROD, and hdmi vs component on some?

I dont remember it, but unless it was fairly recently, then all the new ones on the market should have the updated parts.

Dont they all have both HDMI and Component output?

They didn't when I had one... In fact, I had to buy a special cable to hook mine up HD (component). I remember that they did come out with an HD model later...

i think they only got that when the elites came out.''

hey tmall, according to this article the only surefire way to get a jasper is a new arcade model with an amp rating of 12.1.

ya, the console as a whole has a bad track record, not just the chipset.

To get the newest chipset look for the 175w power supply. You can spot it through a window in the box.
