I'm trying to find a 20mm external hex socket..pic attached of the type of thing I'm needing for reference for anybody who might not know what I'm talking about...
Anyway, I've been up one side of the net and down the other, and I have not been able to find this socket! I found one on a website for a company in Quebec, but they list no prices, and I can't order it online.
Does anybody know where I can find one

Dunno if this will help, but a 22mm hex nut sticking halfway out of a socket might do the trick.

Why can't you use a regular allen head? Just put a socket extension on the end if you need more torque to loosen the bolt.

Hmm..replace 22 for 20, and that might be feasible. I'll have to think about that. Not my first choice, but in a pinch..
Snap-on?
I've checked Snap-On, Mac, Matco, Craftsman, and about 15 other places. No dice that I can find online. :/

A regular allen head might not be deep enough, plus I can't find that either, first of all, and second of all, I've already got the nut off. It's the clutch hub nut on the Ducati, and I want the socket to make sure I get it torqued down to the proper spec, not just *set the impact driver to kill and stop when it quits turning.*

I found one on the UK Ebay site for *12 pounds* er....$21. If I don't find a lead on one locally, I'm ordering that thing tonight.

If I could find a 20mm allen wrench I would do that. 20mm hex/allen anything is quite difficult to find I'm discovering.
As for Harbor Freight, their sets don't include 20mm. :/ Checked that earlier today.

Monkey wrench has nothing to do with what color a person is!
Concerning the origin of its name, this story has been repeated in several publications in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries:
That handy tool, the "monkey-wrench", is not so named because it is a handy thing to monkey with, or for any kindred reason. "Monkey" is not its name at all, but "Moncky." Charles Moncky, the inventor of it, sold his patent for $2000, and invested the money in a house in Williamsburg, Kings County, where he now lives.[1]
In his interesting article upon the genesis of machine design, Mr. W.H. Sargent spoke of the slide which moves up and down in the handle of a monkey wrench as resembling a toy monkey, and thereby drew an analogy. To this Mr. H.E. Madden writes: "The wrench is not named from this, neither is it so called because it is a handy thing to 'monkey' with. The right name is 'Moncky.' Charles Moncky, the inventor of it, sold his patent for $2,000, and invested the money in a house in Williamsburg, Kings County, N.Y., where he afterward lived.[2]

We aren't talking about a "monkey wrench". The term "monkey rig" or the more popular "nigger rig" is used to illustrate the wrong way to do something. Usually, mostly in the past, black people didn't have money for "proper" tools and had to make do with makeshift tools. The popular PC-er version of this term is the ever popular "afro-engineer"... Hahahaha! You guys are funny!
Anyway, good luck with your project. I agree that if you're waiting anyway, you may as well get the right tool. I thought that you were stuck from the lack of this tool.

I was wondering who would be the first to catch that. LOL
When I was tearing the motor down, there were several gears that required special pullers to get off, so I had the service guys at the Ducati dealer pull that one off too.
It's alot easier to take a handful of bolts to the hardware store to find the right size sockets than carry a complete motorcycle engine in. LOL

And the gas cans taken from German vehicles by GI's were dubbed "Jerry" cans, because they were "german" (jerry) gas cans. It became a popular term for the old 5 gal gas cans everyone used for years after the war, which were copied from the german design.

I say Jerry Rigged all the time. Where does the term Jerry Can come from then?
It is a Canadian thing. We still say jerry rigged.
The southerners say jury rigged.

I've never heard 'jury' rigged until I read this thread.

James, they used to say "Jerry Rig" (later bastardized to "Jury Rig") during the war from the use of "Jerry" as a pejorative term for German soldiers.
It seems all immigrants go through a hazing process in this country. I notice no one tells Polish jokes anymore...
I'm someone says it to me I don't know if they will be able to tell me the history of it while I'm hitting them. I can't stand that word.
Jerry and Jury I have heard before. I never had a clue where they came from but I have heard of them. I don't use them myself.

I've always said "Jerry Rigged" if using the term at all... usually I just say "Cobbled together"
