LANGLEY, Va. – A group led by anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan has protested near the CIA's headquarters and former Vice President Dick Cheney's home in northern Virginia.
They were protesting the use of unmanned drone aircraft to attack al-Qaida and Taliban targets.
The group of about 70 people rallied alongside a highway near the CIA compound Saturday. About half then marched to Cheney's nearby street and stayed for 20 minutes. Police kept them from going down his street.
Sheehan's 21-year-old son Casey was killed in Iraq in April 2004. She staged a prolonged demonstration outside former President George W. Bush's ranch near Crawford, Texas, in 2005.
She says using drones is "cowardly" and "immoral."

and to counter her argument, I say its better than using humans. fewer human casualties mean fewer mothers, wives, or children have to be told their loved ones are coming home in a box.
seriously, sheehan has NO FUCKING CLUE what she's even protesting anymore. the dumb shit.

Is she the one that blames the military for her son's death? So she bitches about the "Government" letting her son die and now she doesn't want machines to go after the enemy?

That's all she was ever protesting, by dancing on her son's grave.

frankly, I think thats just disgusting how she uses her sons death to get attention. if I were her son, I wouldnt give a FUCK, I'd be haunting her ass all the time with HORRIBLE dreams about herself at those protest rallies.

as i understood it they were estranged before his death and she couldnt have been bothered with him. or something like that. i disagree with drones myself, very different reasons though

Drones and remote launch attacks and air support are the only reason I don't feel like ied's and suicide bombings are "wrong". They use the same tactics as us, they're just lower tech..

Except with ours, 1000 times as much effort goes into ensuring we hit an actual enemy, instead of just anyone.

Slice, I'd bet my life that if they could press a button and take out a battalion like their enemy can, they would. Instead they have cell phones and old ammo.
Its war, I'm not saying I want them to do it. But, they'll use what they can to kill the enemy. The same as we would be doing if we didn't have technology on our side.
If all we had was carpet bombing, that's what we would still be doing.

Regarding IED's, I see your point, assuming they detonate them on US soliders (not civilians, cops, politicians, etc.)
But would we be recruiting kids and women for suicide missions, saying this was their best way into heaven?

Not for nothing but someone should check to see if she can be used by a member in need.

No, we'd feed them some western propaganda like this but we'd wait till they were 18. And pay for their school. I'm not saying they're right. But, just because we have more money doesn't make their tactics any less viable in battle.

It wasn't so long ago that killing civilians was the name of the game. And all that mattered was winning. Your own country leveled two cities using weapons of mass destruction because Pearl Harbor was bombed. Imagine what you'd have done if you'd have been invaded and occupied?
I'm definitely not sympathetic to the enemy. But, I'm not brainwashed to think that we're any better when it comes to killing each other. As long their land is being occupied, they will fight by any means necessary.

Look up the Dresden Firestorm before you cut the number at 2.
We now have the technology to limit collateral damage and it is used. Al Qaeda will bomb civilians, without any thought to trying to hit a military target of any sort.

It's a tradegy for her son to die, so she wishes for others to go through the same thing? Logic Fail.

The objectives are different. We want to cripple Al Queda's masterminds, military and financial institutions. They want to kill as many Americans as possible, becuase they know they could never take on the U.S. armned forces.

Actually what they want to do is break the will to resist. That includes killing civilians that are nominally "their own." It isn't about just killing Americans.

^^^If you are speaking of killing those who do not hold the Muslim faith then yes that is probably more of an accurate assessment. But I think specifically targeting American lives is a direct result of our intervention in their countries.

No, I'm talking about how they'll kill observant Muslims who don't happen to agree with Al Qaeda's twisting of their faith and work with the government, who work with foreign powers that are trying to secure the region, or are simply regular civilians who want to get on with their lives but are seen as expedient pawns in their actions to spread terror.
