Overworked, yet still relevant...
"This is my reflective belt. There are many like it but this one is mine. My reflective belt is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my reflective belt is useless. Without my reflective belt I am useless. I must wear my reflective belt. My reflective belt makes me luminous to my enemy, who is trying to kill me. Before God I swear this creed: my reflective belt and myself are defenders of my country, we are the masters of my enemy, we are the saviors of my life. So be it, until there is no enemy, but peace. Amen."

I mother fucking HATE reflective belts!!!!!!!!!!
BUT, while here, we have "belted" a NTV, a HMMWV, a Bradley, a Blackhawk (that was touchy), a goat, a dog, and a group of kids at a school! :D

 When I was on Camp Doha, Kuwait in 02 they didn't make anyone wear belts unless they were actually running (exercising) though I wouldn't have run over there in 130F unless someone was shooting at me and that didn't happen while I was there ;) There was a Navy medic with our unit that would run in the middle of the damn afternoon over there, when I could barely sit in the shade without passing out, but he was one serious badass without any attitude. I think he was the one truely dangerous individual in our unit and I sure wouldn't have ever picked a fight with him though I out weighed him by 60lbs or so. We got talking and hanging out a little after I was there for a while and he had worked with SEALS and other spec ops units before and then I knew I'd read him right. At least if he messed you up it was his job to fix you afterward
I like how you pay close attention to warning signs Fred ;)

Another sign I saw there

There were too many signs to pay attention to them all.

We didn't have to wear that shit either... how incredibly stupid! Why not put led bull's eyes on your heads?

Actually it sorta makes sense, More people have been hurt and died from being run over at night than have been shot on a base. Since the madatory PT belt was implimented pedestrian accidents at night has virtually dissapeared.
But yeh it looks stupid.

Nice... nah, it was private, 16S, maybe 18 or 19 that was honestly dog tired/ half heat exausted. Sleeping in a sack next to his Hummer in a camo'd position. The tanks had been going by all evening and night... one got a little off track. I've fallen asleep many, many times in a moving apc/Vulcan when I wasn't driving or in the gunner's position... It's surprising what you can sleep through if you're tired enough and if you're used to the noise... Besides, the way the sound carried, it was sometimes hard to tell where anything was.

Unlikely, this kid had been humping all day in 100 plus heat...been over maybe a month, I'm not 100% because it was another unit.

:( Good lord, that's horrible.
Didn't know about the stripes - sounds like a regulation from the same jokers that came up w/ requiring moto-vests on base.

Oh yea that was cute when it came out... We'd all carry them in our pockets/trunks and literally put them on in line to get on base.

We still do

shoulda been on the hummer. Understand where you are coming from though. Dont know if you've ever been to brookhaven range at hood but the boresight line is literally right next to the first bp. Used to be able to sleep plenty fine in my hole waiting for our turn for tt7

yeah, it's ghey.
Must be worn at ALL TIMES in PT's. Winters, diagonal from left shoulder to right, Summers around waist.
In ACU's, from dawn till dusk, and any time of limited visibility, also from left shoulder to right.
What's really ghey is that 98% of where we walk there is no vehicle traffic allowed!

Hey derf, how you like the new ECWS stuff?
I haven't found it cold enough for the marshmallow jacket yet, but I much prefer the old black fleece over the new green ones.
