That's pretty much all I use mine for... The Google Maps app is MONEY though... just like the regular Google Maps it does give me some fucked up directions every now and again, but overall I love it.
As far as making calls goes, the phone sucks. People have trouble hearing me a lot and with the touch screen I always accidentally hit speakerphone, mute ,or something when I'm holding it with my shoulder.

I agreee with Blackberry app word and Crackberry.
I also added...
Flixster Movie reviews and trailers for movies on video or in theaters.
Scoremoblie Sports scores.
Urbanspoon Restaurant one armed bandit. It allows you to chose location (it can find your location and use areas around you), type of food and one of four price ranges. You can lock any, all or none of these and let it spin. It then picks a restaurant for you, gives you user reviews and lets you just click on the phone number to call the resturant.
Poynt Give you a serch engine or business or personal phone numbers, movie info (it will even tell you theaters are near you and what they are playing, times they are playing and prices), you get a button for restaurants which you can search by name, cuisine or ones near you. You can also map it to find your way there.
Weather app I have the one from the weather network. Tells you the weather forcast.
TFLNBerry Text from last night app for when I have nothing to do.
Scanlife Its an app that will scan a special bar code in the Metro (a free paper here) and that will take me to the internet to more stories related to the one your reading and so on.

Having wifi on a phone allows you to get online without using your data plan. If saving money is gay then I'm coming out.

And I forgot. BB Messenger kicks all kinds of ass. I loved my Treo because of how it handled text messages. BBM is like it but knowing that someone checked the message is cool.
I never wanted to own a BlackBerry but now that I have it BBM might keep me from ever leaving.

Does the Storm's screen not go off when you put it to your ear? If not...what a joke, that's 3 year old technology now!

I'm not sure but I would guess it would be in the settings. I could shut off my touch screen on my Treo. I didn't do it but I could if I wanted to.

Not to mention most wi-fi spots are much, much faster than 3G. NOT having wi-fi on a smart phone is gay.

i usually carry my laptop around with me so if there's a wifi spot i'd much rather use that than a phone.

Most would rather use a laptop but not everyone has one with them all the time. So by the sounds of it you don't really needed but its still a great thing to have in a phone.

Not sure how much it affects it, but the 3G test was done in a moving vehicle.
The Wifi was done about 15ft from my computer at home sitting on the couch. But Wifi is faster all the time, from what I have noticed. The Wifi at my district office is ridiculously fast, compared to my house wifi.
